"Ugh I just can't get this equation right!" Tony shouted in frustration. You sighed and chuckled to yourself. You had been working with Tony and Bruce for about a month, and you loved it. The work you were doing was fascinating, and so was Bruce. Ever since the science convention you two had talked quite often, he made you feel smart and appreciated and he seemed to love getting to know you. Recently you found yourself looking for excuses to work closer to him. Sometimes you would look up to see him starring at you from behind a book, and man did he blush when you caught him. Currently, he seemed busy mixing a couple chemicals. A slight smile crossed your face as you went over to help Tony with the equation.
"Okay you big baby, here's what you did wrong," you say pushing him to the side. Once you had completely reworked the problem you turned around to find Tony grinning cheekily. "Thanks hamster girl, but I think Banner needs your help a little more than I do," he says with a wink. You look over at Bruce who was staring at you with a nervous but cute expression. Realizing he was being watched he blushed heavily and looked down. "Nothing, everything's good, a-ok, splendid," he muttered still blushing. You were a little confused but just laughed and shook your head, stepping aside to let Tony get back to his work. You go back to your work and 15 minutes later you hear your name being whispered. Glancing to your left you see Bruce and Tony in a little huddle talking to each other. Bruce seemed anxious as Tony seemed to be giving him a speech. Something was up, but you didn't know what. You cleared your throat lightly, looking at the boys expectantly. They whipped around to face you, Bruce threw his hands up in the air and Tony just smiled slyly. "So gentlemen, is there something I should know about?" you inquired coolly. "Well, Tony chuckled, There is but I'll leave that up to the Dr. to explain to you." Bruce elbowed him in the side and he started nonchalantly walking out of the room, throwing you a wink as he went by.
Once he was gone Bruce walked up to you hesitantly. "What's up doc?" you said in your best imitation of Bugs Bunny. He chuckled softly looking up at you and scratching the back of his neck. Butterflies flew in your stomach at the simple movement. "I'm sorry about all that back there, it's just I'm a bit out of practice with this stuff and I wanted to do it right." Your heart raced as he stared straight into your (Y/E/C) eyes. "(Y/N/H) your a very smart, kind, and not to mention hilarious woman and I was wondering if you'd like to, I don't know... Go for a drive with me this fine evening?" You grinned from ear to ear. "I would love to, Bruce," you say taking off your lab coat and hanging it up. He smiled the most heart melting smile and said, "Well I've had enough Stark and science to last me for the day, so what do you say we clean up and get going?" You nodded, and in 5 minutes the lab was ship-shape. He then led you too the garage, taking keys off a hook on the wall that went to a beautiful vintage blue Mustang nor convertible. He went around and opened your door for you like a gentleman. Once the car was started, you were off.
There was a couple minutes of awkward silence before he spoke up and said, "I figured we'd cruise around for a bit and enjoy the scenery, but our final destination will be a surprise I hope you'll like." You smiled as you put on your sunglasses. "I know I'll love it," you say excitedly. "What I would also love is permission to put this top down and turn on a little music!" He laughed heartily, shaking his head at your goofiness, and put the top down. You fiddled with the radio until you found your favorite station. Just as you settled back into your seat your favorite song came on, "Shut up and Dance With Me," by Walk the Moon. You and Bruce looked at each other enthusiastically. "This is my favorite song (Y/N/H), turn it up!" he shouts over the wind. "No way, me too!" you say reaching for the sound knob. You two sing along together, shouting it at the top of your lungs. "She took my arm, I don't know how it happened, We hit the floor and she said: Oh don't you dare look back! Just keep your eyes on me! I said your holding back, she said Shut up and dance with me! This woman is my destiny, oooh ooh oooh, Shut up and dance with me!" More of your favorite songs played as you cruised along the outskirts of NewYork city. You both sat, not even talking, but having a blast belting out lyrics. The wind blew through your hair, and the sunshine seemed to kiss your skin. Your heart swelled with contentment, it was a good life.
Eventually the sun started to set and you got more curious as the drive went by. By now you were in the countryside, and it didn't seem like you were turning back anytime soon. Bruce was finishing up a rousing rendition of "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, which had you laughing hysterically. You wiped the tears from your eyes and said, "Ok now I've got to know, where are we headed?" "Oh you'll see here in a minute, were almost there," he said driving the car up a small hill side. He stopped at a level area high up and turned towards you. By now the stars were out and everything was bathed in a romantic light. "I thought I'd show you some constellations I love, and this is the best place to see them. I come here whenever I need to get away." "It's absolutely breath taking Bruce, thank you for bringing me here, it means a lot." The look on his face said it all. "The stars may be breathtaking, but they're nothing compared to you.", he said softly and sweetly. Your heart pounded and you hoped he couldn't see you blush as you laughed shakily. "Thank you, but I think we'll get a better look if we lay down on the grass," you say hopping out of the car.
You found a nice spot and sprawled out next to each other in the sweet smelling grass. He pointed out several constellations and explained how intricately the planets and stars were arranged. You found it fascinating and you asked questions as you stared up at the sky, breathing in the fresh night air. Eventually the talking subsided and you felt cool fingers lace themselves with yours. You turned your head in surprise only to find Bruce staring up at the sky, smiling. You chuckled to yourself and turned back, you loved the feeling of your hand in his.
After awhile of laying like this, you started yawning and Bruce sat up stretching. "I'd better get you back, who knows what Stark will say when we turn up this late. If you want you can take a spare bedroom in the tower so you won't fall asleep driving home." You smile tiredly and nod your head. "Sounds like a good plan, thanks." you say getting in the car. "Besides, we got a lot of work to do tomorrow and I'm just dying to hear what Tony has to say about all of this." He laughed lightly and back you went, retracing your path back home. Along the way you must've fallen asleep because one minute you were buckling your seat belt and the next you were being carried into the tower. You groggily squinted up at Bruce as he quietly crept through the tower too the spare room. He pulled back the duvet and carefully tucked you in. Thinking you were asleep, he softly kissed the corner of your mouth. You smiled making him jump. "Goodnight Bruce, thank you for everything, it was wonderful." you whispered sleepily. "It was a pleasure, I assure you, because your wonderful (Y/N/H). Now shut up and get some sleep," he whispered back. As he was walking out the door you called out, "Remember, don't stop believing." He chuckled softly and shut the door. As you fell asleep you could still smell the night breeze, and you smiled.
