The Hidden

Chapter 9

I was still freaked out by the whole beast thing. But we are on our way back to the safe haven. Ashton and Isabelle are fighting about what happened down there, while Jake and I just follow quietly.
"She almost died, you want a report on you?" Ashton growled toward Isabelle.
"Well she lived" Isabelle fights back.
"This time."
"She's stronger then you think Ash! Listen just because she's new, doesn't mean she can't handle it." Ashton looked down, almost as in sadness.
"Look, I just don't want her to get hurt." Ashton whispers, but I could hear him. Isabelle looked shocked. Everyone was quiet, an awkward quiet.
"Sooo... Teegan how was your first creature experience?" Jake laughed.
"Interesting... I guess" I smile, but the smile fades. The burning on my arms increases.
"You okay?" He asks looking curious.
"Yeah I'm fine." That was a complete lie, my head was pounding and my legs were shaking.
"Hey listen, we are almost there, and we can get you fixed up" Ashton says lightening the mood.
"Thanks" I say without trying to fall over.
"Woah you okay?" He stopped and just stared at me.
"Shaky I guess" I say making him snap out of it. I almost fall but Ashton ran to catch me.
"I got you." I look up at him seeing him with a caring smile.
"I'll help you the rest of the way." He tells me.
"Thanks" I wrap my arm around he's neck and lean on him. He helps me walk without falling.
"You don't remember anything huh?" Ashton asks.
"Not really no." My heart sank, my family probably misses me. And I'm gone. Alone. But not alone. "Is this what you do everyday?"
"Most days, or we just chill and eat pizza." He laughs.
"I guess I should be learning more before I go out with you guys again." I look up at him to see what he says. He looks at me he smiles.
"No you're coming with us."
"What?" I ask.
"Woah what?" Isabelle seems shocked.
"Yeah she's coming with us." He smirks, "What would be fun if you didn't go on adventures? Princess?" He laughs mocking Jake.
"Hey!" I lightly punch him on the arm, knocking me off balance. Everything goes black and fades.

I look back to see Teegan limping. "Hey listen were almost there, and we can get you fixed up." I try to comfort her. She struggles to walk and almost falls. "Woah you okay? I ask. She stopped, the sunlight shined on her face, and made it glow. I didn't realize how pretty she looked. She reminded me of my sister, small but tough. Why was I so rude to her? Idiot.
"Shaky I guess" she's answers. She stumbles, and I instantly run over to her and hold her up.
"I got you" she looks up at me with innocent little eyes. "I'll help you the rest of the way."
"Thanks" she replied and wrapped he arm around my neck. She was so delicate. We talked for awhile.
"What would be fun if you didn't go on adventures? Princess?" I smirked. She smiled and lightly punched me in the arm, but because she let go of me she fell. Her eyes fluttered shut. "What did I do?" I panicked.
"She lost too much blood." Jake states.
"I'll carry her." I step up.
"You? Since when did you care about my friend?" Jake said confused.
"Your friend?" His friend? I wanted to be her friend, or more I guess. Who does he think he is? Wait who the heck am I?
"Sounds like you will stay off my back now." Isabelle laughs.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I pick Teegan up in my arms and her head falls down against my chest. We continue to walk faster.
I watch her face hoping she wakes up. She doesn't. Her hand tightens into a fist.
