Chapter Three

"Caden?"

"Hm? Sorry.. what were you saying?"

"I was asking if you're excited to have this operation? You'll be able to see again! See Alex as a handsome man." I could only imagine Lynn wiggling her eyebrows at me.

"I am, but-"

"Uh oh."

"It's just that.. I'm scared of going under the knife, what if it changes my relationship with Alex?" I let out a sigh, feeling stupid that I could even think of this.

"Caden nothing will change, I promise.." I felt Lynn take my hands in hers. "Alex loves you for who you are, not for what you can see. You love him right?"

"Of course I do, he's everything to me." I sighed, maybe I was just being silly.

"Then nothing will change between you both." Lynn kissed my head as I nodded after.

The rest of the day was slightly a blur, getting coffee and going for more shopping. Lynn dropped me off home where Alex met us by the door to greet us.

"Did you guys have fun today?" I could hear a smile in his voice, chewing on my bottom lip to hide the evidence of my smile.

"We did." I answered, being helped into our house.

I could hear the sounds of tiny paws among the hard wooden floor. Quiet panting filling the room, Alex's dogs were gentle. The type of dogs that I like.

The way his arms wrapped around me like a small comfort of protection, the tightening showing nothing more than I was his. The way his head rested on my shoulder showed his love what he was doing, meant something.

The smile on my face never once faltered as he placed a soft kiss against my cheek. "I love you." He whispered.
"I love you." I said back, showing that I to loved him the same.

"So tell me how was your day?" Alex lead me to the couch, both of us taking a seat on the soft cushions.

"It was good, how was yours?" His fingers entwining with mine as he gave a gentle squeeze.

"Same old with Brian." He chuckled, I liked his laugh in fact I liked everything he did. It would make me laugh when I was having a bad day.

"What would you like to eat?" I thought for a moment before answering.

"Pizza?" I asked, smiling as I felt his soft lips against my temple.

"I was thinking the same thing."

After ordering pizza and stuffing our faces with it, we both decided that we'd go to bed early since I had to be up by 6 AM.

Morning came to quickly for my liking, feeling Alex's strong arms around my waist gave me the comfort that I needed. I loved the way his lips would brush against my neck while his hands rubbed my hips.

"You'll be fine, I'll be there when you wake up." He whispered in my ear causing my heart rate to speed up a million beats per second.

"What if things go wrong?" I freaked as I tightly gripped the hem of my shirt.

"I promise, nothing will happen. I'm there for you every step." I nodded lightly as he guided me out the house and to the car.

The windows were down, the summer air feeling warm against my face as I closed my eyes. Letting myself get taken away in my own little world, the air was only starting to get a little cold.

' And promise me this:

Scared of the lonely arms.'

I listened as Alex hummed along to the song playing on the radio. It was many of my favorite songs that was playing, I felt Alex's hand on my thigh as he squeezed gently only making me smile more.
