The Doctor and Rose have to deal with an interesting person. Though they were not expecting it, Shereen, one of Rose's best friends, gets involved with them. There's something different about her, however, and Rose grows suspicious.
I do not own the...
"NO!" Rose's voice echoed, interrupting the words that had to come out the spirit's mouth. "In any moment of decision, the best thing to do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is leave others to choose."
The Doctor's eyes snapped at Rose's sharpen words. What was she talking about? The only one who had to make a choice was him himself. Why was she throwing the pain against herself?
"Rose.." "How would your life be any different if...You never start allowing other people to dilute or poison your day with their words or opinions? Let today be the day..Doctor." "No. Rose, don't you even-" "Before you can live ,a part of you has to die. You have to let go of what could have been, how you should have acted and what you wish you would have said differently. I know it because I have been there." the girl felt tears streaming out her eyes. They rolled down her cheeks, and it wasn't long until she realized, how very much she still loved him, even after all this time. "I should be the one to do it..it's my choice."
"Looks like the choice has been made, and I am its suzerain." the glowing ghost appeared to smile with pride. It took a tighter grip of Rose's arm and flung Jackie with a move towards the other corner, her head hitting itself against the wall.
The Doctor, seeing this, tried to stand up again and run towards his yellow girl, but once again, the neverending pain just stroked his brain, as the spirit raised its hand.
"Look at you. Hopeless, unprotected. The mighty Timelord, his pride on the ground. When will you ever realize; the one who's bringing end of life, the criminal. The one who is destroying every each companion, who brings their end..it's you."
Rage - whether in reaction to social injustice, or to our leaders' insanity, or to those who threaten or harm us - is a powerful energy that, with diligent practice, can be transformed into fierce compassion.
This was something he would keep hidden within herself, maybe in place of the knot of pain and anger he had been carrying under his chestbone...a security blanket, an ace up his sleeve. But how could he? The only one who gave him hope, falling down into the pit.
It was his fault.
His mistakes.
His choice.
"Why so shy? Show your companion. Show her your true self." Shereen's possessed body pointed out. "Make her be scared. Make her not to see you again. But- oh. She will not be.."
The Doctor fell slowly completely at the ground, hands in his hair, his voice yelling of pain. Even so, he still did try. Tried to stand, tried to fight, tried to escape his soul from misery and save the one he loved. But it was only trying. Attempting.
"Stop it!! You're hurting him!!" Rose demanded. "You have got what you wanted!! Leave him and finish this already!"
"Rose..Rose.." the Doctor still called out her name.
With tears into her eyes, she took a short look at him, then turned around. "Take me away already. I don't want to see him like that." "Such a pain inside your heart." the glowy spirit laughed. "I bet you're tasty.- Oh, before we go" she spoke this time towards the Doctor, lowering the pain, and when his eyes raised, a flash of rage impelled its look. "I left you a little present. Consider it for Christmas."
With that being said, the spirit lowered its arm, and when it fully turned around, a supreme and high light surrounded Rose's body. All she could see was white, her ears still hearing his desperate voice yelling, calling out for her.
This is it. This was the end.
The story of how I died.
The Doctor felt his body shaking, the curse of the Timelords finishing his superior brain once again. He brought destruction to the one he loved.
Rose.
This couldn't be real. This wasn't happening. But it was, wasn't it?
Guilt and rage, hatred and fear were pathways to weakness and clumsy choices. This was the truth at the core of his existence: this yawning emptiness, scantily clad in rage. It had been there all along.
She was gone.
He slowly carried Jackie's unconscious body to her flat, where with care he placed her on the couch. At least she was alive, still breathing and not seriously damaged. She was going to hate him for the rest of her life. He bet she would.. He just stole from her the only thing that remained inside her heart.
I could make her forget. he told himself. I could stop the pain that has to come when she wakes up. I could make her forget..Rose.
The Doctor stood there a couple of minutes looking at the Tyler woman, then stood up. No. She deserved at least to remember.. She deserved to know what an incredibly daughter she had. Rose Tyler. The stuff of legend.
He entered the TARDIS and closed the door behind him, not even taking a look outside again. It was all over. He was over. His messed up life was over. He pressed the inertial dampers and the directional pointer, then took a look at the navigation panel.
Where to?
He pressed the most accurate buttons and waited for the TARDIS to dematerialize, and after she reached the destination, he shut her off.
