Chapter Six

                After the party last night I had just collapsed on the bed and slept until this morning. All night I had spent thinking about how easily Benjamin talked to me. it was like he knew me all his life and I wasn’t just a complete stranger to him. Not even Preston could believe he had warmed up to me so quickly. He doesn’t even talk that much to Erika and she was going to be his stepmom.

That still had me feeling upset, not because Blake was taken but that Benjamin was going to be stuck with her as a stepmom. By the way he talked about her, he wasn’t quiet fond of her. I haven’t even met her yet, but by the way they talk about her, I wasn’t going to like her either.

Now I was here unpacking for my month long stay here. So far I was feeling better now that I was away from home. Like I can finally breathe and not worry about running into Jaxon. I heard a knock on the door, “Come in.” Preston opened the door and walked in.

“So what’s the first thing you want to do?” Preston asked as he sat down on the bed. This was the first time I came to visit and would have time to actually do something fun. “Oh we can take you sightseeing around the city. Then I can show you where Robert and Blake’s firm is at. Then I can show you were I used to work.” He said the last part sadly. He loved writing for the New York Times, but when Chloe got real sick from her heart he had to quit.

                “Do you ever think about going back?” I asked as I sat next to him. Now that she was better I was sure he could go back to work, they told him he was always welcome to come back when he could.

                “Yes but I just have been used to staying here with the kids I don’t think I would last long. I would drive Ramona crazy always calling to see how they are doing. Plus I still write for them , just do it at home now.” he smiled at me, he was really happy.

                “Well what do all of you normally do on a Saturday afternoon?”

                “We either take the kids out for a movie and ice cream or Robert and Blake barbeque outside. It’s also the chance Ramona has off to herself, sometimes I feel bad that she is always here helping with the kids. I told Robert we need to make her take her weekends off and just enjoy herself.”

                “So does Ramona have a boyfriend?”  Preston chuckled.

                “She claims she doesn’t but I have a feeling she does, she brings way too many sweets home. She also spends too much time at the bakery, so you  tell me if she doesn’t have one.”

                “It sounds like someone might be a little sweet on her.”  We both laughed.

                “Right I was thinking the same thing, but she will never tell. So I have to run to the grocery store would you like to come with me?”

                “Sure and which kids are coming with us?”

                “Just Chloe, Jaden, Sebastian and Benjamin, they are the only ones that like to come with me.” After the party, Benjamin had stayed the night. Blake wasn’t kidding, they really were inseparable.
