Chapter Thirteen

I sat down looking out at the lake, it was still early in the morning and everyone was still asleep. I hadn’t been able to sleep most of the night, just so much going through my head and Blake’s snoring didn’t help either.

The shower I took helped me relax and not feel so tense, but I would have still liked it if I could have slept a little more. Just a little more sleep to help my mind be at ease about yesterday’s talk with Blake.

I still couldn’t believe I told Blake all those things, it wasn’t my place but I also couldn’t just stand there and not voice my opinion. Especially since Benjamin was involved, he doesn’t deserve any of that.

I just hoped that Blake now realizes what he is doing. If he loves his son as much as he claims, he won’t go through with the wedding. “You mind if I join you?” I turned around to see Blake standing behind me.

“Yeah sure,” I moved over on the rock I was sitting on. Blake sat down next to me, “So what time are we going out on the lake?” we both looked out at the lake, it was still early and almost everyone were still asleep. There were two boats out on the lake. I should still be asleep too, but I just couldn’t sleep anymore and I didn’t want to just lie there.

“After breakfast, it’s still early and I want the boys to sleep more before we go out. Being stuck on a boat with two grumpy and moody kids isn’t fun.” I chuckled and nodded my head as I still looked out at the lake. “How did you sleep last night?”

“Fine, it was a bit cramped in the tent with the boys, Sebastian is a wild sleeper.” Blake chuckled.

“Well you could have always shared with me.”

“No thank you, your snoring was loud enough to hear in our tent.” He chuckled. “Think you even scared away the bears,” I smiled at him.

“Yes it seems like the bears always disappear when I come up here.” We chuckled, “So different from the city, isn’t?”

“Yeah no blaring sound of traffic and people, just peace and quiet here. Really nice, just to leave you here to be with your thoughts, nothing to distract you from what you need to think about.”

“Yeah that’s true,” Blake stood up to pick up a stone and threw it into the lake. It skipped across the water, “Have you ever skipped stones?” Blake asked as he picked up another one.

“Nope, kind of hard to do that in the ocean.”

“Well then, let me show you.” He handed me a stone, “Now it is easy to do. It’s all in your wrist, just a simple flick of your wrist.” I watched as he did it, it didn’t look too hard. “Ok now you try.” I got off the rock and stood next to him.

“Warning you, don’t get mad if it somehow hits you in the face.” He chuckled, I held the stone in my hand and then flicked my wrist. We watched it sail in the air and just fall straight into the water. “What the hell!” I picked up another stone to try again, but it just fell into the water.
