With lots of persuasion and Eve's kitten eyes Ranger had finally agreed to be in our Clan. He looked down at me, "This 'Clan' is only us three.. isn't it?" he grumbled.

"Not for long! If we recruit enough cat's we will be fine." Eve purred enthusiastically.

Ranger hung his head and muttered, "What have I gotten myself into. Your names are Nightmare and Eve, correct?"

Eve nodded her head, "Yeah I'm Eve."

We started heading back to our base, "Hey Ranger, do you know anything about the Clan cats? I know a little but have you met one?" I asked.

Ranger shrugged, "Those cats who are always freaking out about their borders and going on about dead cats? I've encountered a few, but they know not to mess with me."

Eve chuckled and bounded up to the older tom, "Do you have a home? Or any family?"

"You ask too many questions. Home? I used to live with a group of cats on hilly plains far away. As for family they're all dead." he replied, "What about you, you two shouldn't be wandering around these parts alone. Where is your mother? I want to be done with playing Clan."

Eve hung her head, "Our mum is dead."

Ranger's eyes widened, "I'm sorry for you loss." he mumbled.

I shrugged, "We have been able to fend for ourselves pretty well."

"Are you sure? You look like house cats to me." He muttered.

I let out a snort of annoyance, "We aren't lazy pellet eaters!"

"If that's what you have to tell yourself, I'm starving I'm going to go hunting." he meowed.

Eve flicked her tail towards the roots of our base, "That's where we live, when you're done just come back."

Ranger flicked his tail, "Yeah yeah, I know how group life works kiddo's, want me to bring you back something?" My sister's mouth gaped out and her eyes were glimmering, "Yes please!" Ranger laughed then trailed deeper into the forest, "I'll be back by sunset." The grey tabby flicked his tail then left.

"Wow our first Clan member!" Eve purred. "Can we go get more tomorrow?" she meowed. I thought about it for a moment, "If we find cats we like yes, a pawful of trustworthy members is better then a Clan of ruthless idiots."

"We were lucky to find Ranger though, did you see how fast he took down Morgan when he was untied?" Eve meowed.

The sun was about straight up in the sky, "Well while he's out hunting how about we fortify the base?" I suggested.

"Good idea Nightmare! What should we use for it?" My sister asked.

I cringed at the sound of my name, "How about sticks, we can stuff moss and grass in between the sticks for insulation." I meowed.

"Ok I'll go get moss, you get the sticks and we will meet back here." She meowed and darted off. "Be careful!" I called but she was long gone. I sighed and started walking towards the Clans, I saw a oak tree that had its branches removed in a wind storm. I got to the tree and put the bundle of sticks in my mouth then started walking back. I did this action several times until I was on my last trip.

"I hope Eve finds lots of moss." I sighed as I padded.

I picked up the long bundles in my mouth then started walking back. I heard a sharp yelp and my ears pricked. I turned around and saw a small brown tabby with bristled fur. "I'm no where near their territory."

I watched closely and saw that she wasn't hissing at me. There was a dog, about twice her size barking at her. It grabbed her scruff then happily started prancing around and I let out a growl, "Pick on someone your own size!"
