Chapter 9: Settling

(Mem's POV)

Uggggghhh!! I can't believe General Blorgon is making us stay on Earth and train these noobs! Now Kat, Zen, and I had to buy a house and are currently moving most of our stuff in it.

"Okay guys, there's two bedrooms so you two will have to bunk together. " Katie said. "What why?!" Zen asked/yelled. "I'm sorry do I look like a guy to you? No? Well then I get a different room!" "Oh right, sorry he he." Zen said sheepishly rubbing his neck. "Look you guys can have the master bedroom since it's bigger and I'll take the other one." Kat said.

After a while we finished moving in all our stuff and now we're unpacking it. The house itself was a two bed two bath, thank Glorg, and had a good sized living room, kitchen, and dining room. We just finished putting together our bedrooms and bathrooms and now Kat and I are setting up the living room while Zen was hooking up the XR4ti to the house.

"Hey Mem, can you give me a hand with the couch." Kat said. "Why do you need my help you have super strength?" "I know but I can't get a good grip on this damn thing. Stupid Earth crap." I laughed and then grabbed one end while she grabbed the other and we moved it  in front of the TV.

"So how are you handling all this?" Kat asked sitting on the couch next to me. "Eh it's okay I guess. I just can't believe that we are the ones that have to train those kids. Granted it was kinda our fault but I really wished that we could travel more around the universe though." She smiled sympathetically and said "Yeah but you know those kids do have potential and they're pretty sweet if you ask me."

"Yeah I guess you're right. Besides, you and I both know Zen is the one that's taking it the worst." I said. We laughed and she said "Yeah did you see the look on his face in the arena." We laughed harder. "Probably the worst thing is that now if me and Zen have to go out in public we have to look like this." I transformed into my human form for emphasis and Kat just laughed again.

"What?" I asked. "You think that's the worst thing ever. Dude I have to go shopping tomorrow and get me a bunch of Earth clothes. At least all you have to do is press a button and boom human." "Huh didn't really think of that." "It's fine. Besides you look pretty cute as a human and so did Zen. The look on both your faces was priceless."

I could feel the heat rising my cheeks when she called me cute but quickly shook off the feeling. We continued to talk until I saw a flash of energy and Zen yelled "LOOK OUT!!" It was heading straight for Kat and I quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the way before she got hit.

The bad thing was I didn't really realize the position we were in until I looked up. Kat's face was literally an inch from my face, in fact she was on top of me. It didn't help that I was still in human form. Her eyes were wide and she had a faint pink on her cheeks and I knew I looked about the same and it really didn't help that my heart was beating out of my chest.

After a couple excoriating awkward minutes later she said "Uhh thanks." "No problem." I said. "Are you two alright." Zen called. We quickly separated before he could see us. "Yeah we're fine. I pulled Kat out of the way in time." "Yeah sorry about that. A circuit fried and started a chain reaction that made that happen." "It's okay. I'll help you fix it Zen." Katie said and followed Zen into the other room.

I was left alone and instantly put my head in my hands. What is wrong with me? Do I actually have a crush on one of my best friends? No no that was just an in the moment type of thing or was it. Uggghhh I got up and went to the kitchen to begin cooking dinner and tried to get my head back on straight.

Sorry it was so short but this was more of filler chapter. I promise the next one will be much longer! Bye!😉
