Well this is sooner than expected for an update!! I just had to get this chapter off my chest. This is just pure fluff but does have significance to the story. Remember how Shope is the only one that knows who Katie really is? Well they never actually talked about it so that's what this chapter is for! Enjoy!!

(Shope's POV)

It was Saturday night and my parents were arguing.

"What are we going to do!! The babysitter just canceled! Something about some concert." My mom grumbled after just getting off the phone. "Can't we book another one?" Dad asked. "There's no time plus it's Saturday night so all the good ones would be booked already." "Can't we just skip the gala?" Dad said. "No we can not just skip the gala! It's being thrown in my honor!!" My mom yelled.

My mother is a psychologist who just made a huge break through in some new therapy technique so she's receiving an award hence the gala.

After listening to them go back and forth for what seemed like hours I finally said "Can't I just sleep over at one of my friends' house?" "NO!!" Both my parents snapped at me. "We don't trust those boys. They're a bad influence on you." My dad said. "Okay." I mumbled and looked out the window. Huh, I can see Katie in her window across the street two houses down. Wait.

"Katie." I whispered but I guess my parents heard me because they said "Who?" I stood up and said "Katie Pri! The woman who lives two doors down across the street. My friends and I hang out with her everyday after school while we're waiting for our parents to come home." My parents looked at me with a serious expression and my mom said "Isn't she like 20?" "And lives with those two guys?" My dad added. "Well yeah, but she's really responsible. I mean she helps me and my friends with our homework all the time and she always has my back. She looks out for me when you guys aren't around. I trust her with anything." I said with full honesty. I really do trust Kat with everything. "I don't know. I don't want you staying over there if those two guys are there." Dad said being overprotective for no reason. "Well if they are there I can convince Miss Pri to come over here and stay. She'll do it." My parents looked at each other and my mom said "Okay but only because we can't get anyone else on short notice." I silently cheered and went upstairs to pack my stuff.

After about ten minutes we walked over  to her house and my parents rang the doorbell. Kat I know was all the way upstairs but thanks to her super hearing and super speed she was at the door in under ten seconds.

She opened the door and smiled upon seeing me. "Hey kid, are these your parents?" My mother stuck out her hand which she shook and said "Hi I'm Jennifer's mother. We've never formally met but I need to ask you a favor?" "Sure what do you need?" Katie said with a smile. "First are your two roommates here?" My dad asked suspiciously causing me to face palm. Kat gave him a wtf expression but then played it off with a smile. "No, they went out of town and won't be back till tomorrow afternoon." "Oh then can Jennifer stay with you tonight? We'll pay you for your trouble." "Sure I'll watch her and you don't have to pay me. I'll do it free of charge." My parents looked shocked but gave their thanks and left.

I walked into the house that I've been into a million times and sat down on the couch. Katie closed the door and locked it, then turned to me and said "Shope you can go up to my room and change in your pjs. You know where it is." I nodded and headed upstairs.

Once I came back down in my pajamas Katie was just exiting the kitchen with two steaming plates of lasagna. "Whoa Katie, I didn't know you could cook?" "Oh I can't, this is what I call heating up leftover food that Mem made in the microwave." We laughed. "Where is Mem and Zen anyway." "Oh it's some major holiday on their planet today so they left yesterday to celebrate with their parents." "That's cool. So you're holding down the fort." "More like indirectly babysitting you four incase there's a virus attack." I nodded in understanding.
