Chapter 2
Seth’s POV
I love the feeling of just floating in water. It makes me feel incredibly tranquil and completely at ease. Helps me to forget the pressures that awaits once I get out of the calming blue surrounding me.
And then I heard a whistle blow.
“Johnson, what are you doing, let’s get a move on! I want to see the burn in your arms, give me six laps of butterfly!” Coach Brett shouted at me from the other side of the Olympic sized pool.
Damn. Moment’s gone, oh well; at least I love to swim. I’m too fit to feel the ‘burn’ Brett wants to see and we both know that.
I climbed out the pool and got on to the diving block, crouched over to grab the front edge, and got ready to push off.
As soon as I dived, I did a perfect streamline and dolphin kicked myself up to the surface. As soon as I hit the air, I swung my arms forward and took a big breath so I could put my face underwater again. I kicked and swung, kick swing, and kick breath swing, repetitively until I finished all six laps.
“Alright show off, hit the ice baths,” Brett shouted again, I swear the man thinks we’re all deaf and stupid. But he’s still proud of us, even if he won’t admit that either, all his swimmers know.
After my ice bath, was showered and dressed, I headed out to the parking lot in the direction of my car. I really don’t get why, but my parents felt that we so much money and everyone thinks we’re perfect, that they went out and bought me a new Mustang Giugiaro when I turned eighteen.
I was very happy with my little Ford truck, it kept me unnoticed and under the radar, but no it doesn’t look snazzy enough for my family.
As much as I love my parents, they really do get on my nerves. Dad being the best neurosurgeon in the country and mom being one of the top engineers in North America, they both have very high expectations for me.
And after my older sister, Jill...
She’s kind of the let down of the family, even though she was always she perfect child and student for as long as I can remember.
Until she just cracked, like someone just took away her common sense. And her sanity. But I still love her and try to contact her as often as I can, she was always standing up for me when I was little and bullied because of my size. I don’t really have that problem anymore but I can’t just abandon her like the rest of my family did. She means too much to me.
Maybe I could go visit her again in the summer? This is my last week of high school after all, so what the heck.
As I climbed into my car, avoiding the mixture of admiring and jealous looks from passersby, I buckled myself in and headed home. It may be my last week of school, but I do need to finish my chemistry homework or Mr. Parker will slaughter me.
After dinner with my parents and little sister Alexa, and finished all my science homework, I went on my lap top to check out what was happening on Facebook. I hadn’t been on for a while, and it was still early so I may as well.
I checked my notifications and answered all the messages, when I noticed something. Very long, beautiful blonde hair.
Melissa’s hair.
Ever since the day I saw her in her first year at Earl Marriot Secondary when I was in grade nine, I knew I felt something for her. I didn’t even know her name back then, now I know her a bit better, but I’m still really shy around her. I can still remember that amazing day…
