Chapter 5

Seth’s POV

Why did I have to go ask my parents? How stupid can I be?? Of course they said yes, as long as I’m careful and phone them if anything goes wrong, so now they expect me to go!

I am the world’s biggest moron.

And why does Melissa keep calling me King Kong? I’ll have to ask her later, if I don’t die of nervousness before the party even starts.

What do you wear to one of these parties anyways? I haven’t been to a party since the seventh grade; I don’t know what these kinds of parties are like!

Stupid stupid stupid Seth!

Ok, it’s only 5:15, I still have time.

I think I should just go semi-casual, a pair of jeans and a nice top maybe?

By the time I had to leave at 6:45, I had probably changed my clothes at least twenty times. Finally I choose a smart black buttoned shirt, leaving the top two buttons open, and my black jeans. It may be summer, but it still gets chilly at night!

I arrived at Paul’s house at seven, the party was already in full swing; there were kids’ running inside and out, music was blaring from inside the house, and there were drinks everywhere!

I got out my car making sure to lock it and leaned on the door, anticipating her arrival. Am I dressed ok? Is it too much? Will she regret asking me to be here once she realizes I have no idea what I’m doing?

All these thoughts running around in my head almost made me miss the purple Mini Cooper. Caitie’s car. She’s here.

As I waited for the car to park, I noticed my hands were visibly shaking. God damn it, be a man Seth!

But when that car finally stopped, and the front passenger door opened, my knees almost gave in underneath me.

Her beautiful hair was loose but straightened; it was so long it reached past her waist and stopped right in the middle of her butt…

Stop staring at her butt, dumbass! Not that hers is dumb or anything, she has such a nice one actually…

Stop it you perve!

I moved my gaze up her body slowly, taking in everything that was in front of me. And it was quite a view.

She wore a well fitted one shoulder strap white dress that was looser at her chest, and it was streamed with gold, making her shimmer every time she moved. It was a bit short, showing off her nice tan legs. And finishing at her ankles were white platform heels that had strings tied up around her ankles, not going too high up her calves.

Maybe she’s just a figment of my imagination? I closed my eyes tightly, praying to whoever was listening that this wasn’t just a dream.

I opened my eyes. Someone up there must like me. My magnificent goddess was still there.

Caitie walked around the car to whisper something to Melissa, making the two of them laugh rather loudly. I smiled at that, they’re so easy going, and they never seem embarrassed by their actions ever. I wish I could be as laid back as them.

A tall dirty haired blonde guy walked up to them, and obviously said something that made them laugh even harder. He offered his arm, and Caitie took it smoothly, he must be her date. They looked at Melissa; a few words were exchanged between the three of them, then Caitie and her date walked off to join the party, leaving Melissa alone at the car.
