~Riley's pov~
"H-hello?" I finally answer, fear inside of me as I wait to hear what my mom has to tell me. "So I hear that you're a lesbian." Is all she says, her voice stern. I feel a mix of terror and sadness well up inside of me.

"But," she starts, "it's okay. I.. Used to be too." My eyes widen upon hearing that. "Wait-wait- what?!" I asked shocked, not knowing what to say. "I know you wouldn't expect me to have been. But your father doesn't know that. Neither did you. Until now."

"This-this is all so new to me what-" I'm soon stopped in my tracks. "Don't worry about it. Anyway, I'm happy for you. Who's the lucky girl you're with?" I smile wide as I say her name happily. "Maya."

"WHAT?!" I heard my mom yell on the other line, causing my eyes to widen as I quickly pull the phone from my ear. "Uhh.. Is there something wrong with that?.." I question hesitantly. "Uhh.. N-no.." She finally answers, panic in her voice. "I uhh.. Should go.. I love you." Before I can say anything, she hangs up.

"My mom freaked out after I told her we were together." I inform Maya, causing her to cross her arms as she rolls her eyes, letting out a deep sigh. "Of course she did. No one in your family seems to like me."
