"I can't believe how unprofessional you are!" Lulu's voice hollered down the line. "You left my friends standing in a prison and you DISAPPEARED. They waited for fifteen minutes for you and you never came back. What is your problem? I'm trying to help you out, and this is how you repay me."

"Mum, they were a bunch of loonies!"

"Loonies? They could make or break your career."

"I'm not too sure I want to have this as a career. It's very demanding. You wouldn't believe how annoying people are. Maybe I just want to do something by myself – without anyone around. I keep thinking of being one of those ladies that works on a sex chat line. Then all I have to do is sit at home and whenever the phone rings all I have to do is answer and say yes a lot. You get paid a lot of money."

"Oh great idea," Lulu snarled. "And then what would I tell my friends that your job is?"

"A sex chat worker?"

"You've lost the plot."

"You say that a lot."

"You know what your father and I think? We think that you have serious issues and need to decide what you want from life."

Toni sniffed. "I agree; I'm thinking of joining one of these groups – you know where people gather and talk about their problems."

"WHAT?" Lulu's shriek nearly burst Toni's ear drum.

"A group, sort of like AA but they have lots of different types. I'm going to phone one now."

"OVERMYDEADBODY."

"I beg your pardon?"

"There is nothing wrong with you! You wouldn't dare go and talk to a whole bunch of people about your problems ... Everyone in the whole village will be talking about you."

"I really couldn't care less if they did."

"No because you are more concerned about yourself than you are about the rest of your family. Now we have to suffer because you are determined to air your dirty laundry."

"I have to go. I have a date."

"Humph."

Hurriedly, Toni hung up the phone. Relief washed over her. She had got away intact. But Mumzilla was on a warpath, and Toni was sure that if she listened carefully she could hear the thunderous footsteps of the monster stomping around the village.
