                                                                                Flame's P.O.V.

After a little while of catching up with Goldie, my long lost wolf-friend, and apparent protector Romano and I had to go. Goldie told us that Daray, Corby, and himself would stick around in the background, just in case I was in trouble and need their help.

We, Romano and I, headed to Romano's house, he wanted me to meet someone, but he won't tell me who I am going to be meeting. Romano looks kind of nervous and scared, I wonder why.

"Did you bring her? Is this her?" someone bombarded us with questions as soon as Romano opened the door to his house.

"Yes, grandmother, I did bring her," My sweet mate groaned. "This is her."

Grandmother? I looked up and saw an elderly looking woman, she seemed to be in her late fifties, almost early sixty's. She had soft, graying thick black hair, and stood at about 5'5, 5'6. She was wearing a flowy white dress that ended at her knees and had white wedges on.

Suddenly I was pulled into thin arms.

"She's so pretty." The woman smiled pushing me at arm's length and looking me up and down.

I blushed and looked at the ground.

"I know grandmother." I heard Romano say, making me blush even more.

"What's your name?" she asked me.

"Flame." I answered quietly.

"Full name?" she commented. "I'm Damula."

"Flame Midnight Ghoul." I mumbled, she gasped. "Or Flame Midnight Blood."

She let my shoulders go as she fell into a curtsy. I looked behind me and only saw a closed door. I turned my head to Romano questioningly, and noticed that his shoulders have stiffened as he was looked down at his grandmother. It almost seemed as if he was looking at her disapprovingly.

"Umm, why is she bowing?" I whispered into Romano's ear.

"I'll explain later, love, unless my grandmother beats me to it." He answered. "Grandmother, there's no need to bow to her."

She stood up and looked at her grandson weirdly. "But she's a Ghoul descendent."

"What's so special about my mother's last name?" I asked.

"You don't know?" she uttered in disbelief. "May I ask who your mother is?"

"Vampira Ghoul." I replied.

"The Vampira Ghoul?" her eyes widened.

"Umm, I think so." This is getting very confusing.

"T-then you a-are." She trailed off.

"I'll tell her, grandmother." Romano sighed bringing me to his chest.

"You mean she doesn't know?" her eye's widened again.

"I don't know what?" I questioned as something hurdled into the window next to us.

Romano turned and blocked the glass shards from me.

"What was that?" I asked once all the glass was on the ground and everything settled down.

"Are you OK?" Romano said, ignoring my question, checking me for any cuts.

"I'm fine, thanks to you." I smiled kissing his cheek. "Are you OK?"

"Yes, love, I am." He replied.

"You two are so cute!" his grandmother squealed.

"So what was it that broke the window?" I asked again.

"A brick with a note attached to it." Damula answered.

Romano and I walked over to where his grandmother was standing. Romano bent over and picked the note up.

"I hope you are prepared, your dear uncle Duilio." Romano read out loud.

"Wait, let me see the paper." I said.

Romano handed it to me and I gasped bringing my free hand up to my face, covering my mouth. The creamy paper had small little drawings on it.

"What's wrong?" Romano asked worriedly.

"Before my parents died, Duilio and I had a secret type of code." I whimpered. "These little doodles aren't just drawings, but also a code. There declaring war, officially."

Romano hissed and brought me closer to him.

"The war starts tomorrow." I whispered before falling into a deep black pit of sleep.
