~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I woke up out of my cabin.

Nico has fallen asleep in my arms.

The stains on his face told me that tears had streamed down his face all night.

He hated when anyone saw him upset and he did a good job of hiding it but I could always tell the truth.

I prayed to my dad that none of my cabin mates came in.

I didn't think I could protect him from them; from what they would say.

Well... All of them except Eraina.

She would understand.

She had been my best friend since the great battle and it was nice to have someone who I could be honest with.

I hadn't told her anything but I had a feeling she knew.

Girls have this scary intuition thing like that.

Creepy right?

Nico seemed happy for the first time in awhile.

We didn't mean to fall asleep, I just wanted to hold him for as long as I could.

He began to stir.

For a moment I thought he was going to wake, but he just nuzzled his face into my chest.

I'd never been happier.

A quiet smile lay on his face.

He was still in deep sleep.

After all it was only dawn.

Before much time could pass I heard a faint creak in the floorboard.

Someone was hiding.

Gently I unwrapped myself from Nico and crept to the door.

Quickly I swung open the door.

A shadow as dark as night darted away.

I gazed into the night.

"Hades" I gritted my teeth.

Obviously it was him.

Or maybe it was a trick of the shadows.

I turned and closed the door.

I walked a few paces towards Nico when- "Hey kid" I spun around and my vision blurred from the light.

"Dad?" I whispered,  guessing obviously.

"Good guess" he replied with a smirk on his face.

I glowered at him angrily.

"Get out! Go!" I shouted under my breath.

"Now is that anyway to treat your dad? Believe me Hades has been here already, you don't want to get on that guys bad side and let's just say I know some things." He laughed.

"Are you serious!" I freaked.

"Nah I'm just kidding I could never throw my favorite kid under the bus like that."

He chuckled having a grand old time.

"I'm not your favorite!" I snarled.

"No no your right Eraina is." He rolled his eyes sarcastically.

"Look kid just remember Hades doesn't play with this kind of stuff." He walked out the door (probably for dramatic effect) mumbling something about getting laid.

He wasn't visible but I could feel my face flush.

I waited a few minutes gaping in the doorway.

I had to be sure he was gone.

I closed the door and backed towards Nico.

If Hades wouldn't approve then that could mean I would have even less time than I had thought. I slunk back into the bed holding Nico tighter than ever.
