Chapter 14 - Morning Conversations about Life
"So ... what's your sexuality?"
I asked in the next day. Novus give me a weird look, before looking away."I don't know. I only met myself for about 24 hours." Novus' answer was, as he traced the curves of the bark on the log he was sitting on. We were at the usual camp-site for the camp fires, but it was just me and the Novus talking before breakfast.
"So ... straight?" I asked, as the Novus slowly nod his head.
"Maybe, I don't know and I don't really care. Let's talk about something else ... what about you? What's your life story?"
"Not that important." I sighed.
"Well, yeah it is. To you and to the history, it's important. We have about an hour before breakfast, apparently according to Nade." the Novus replied.
"Well ... er ... it's not that important. And I forgot it all." I partly lied, it was half, half. I do remember it all, and it's not that important. My life-story isn't that important.
"Sonja, it's kind of obvious that you're lying." The Novus smiled and chuckled softly.
"Fine ... err. Where do I start?" I asked, not really caring about my life-story and just want to know about the Novus.
"Start ... with your family. If you remember them."
"I was born with 2 okay parents. My dad, Mianite, and my mother. My mother was a Thaumian Sorceress and was specialize in Botania Magic as well. Leaving me to be a Demigod and Thaumian. With the whole hybrid thing." I pointed at my orange fox ears that stood out of my caramel brown hair. "It's because of the Botania Magic in my blood, which caused me to be a hybrid of a Fox."
"That's actually pretty cool." The Novus admitted, his tone of voice shown actual interested. He was INTERESTED in my life-story ... this is pretty amazing actually. No one was wondering about my life-story, but it did lifted up me some confidence knowing some is interested.
"Yeah, I guess. I guess it is." I smiled, "I was also born in a small tribe-like place called Katsir. It's a place in Ruxomar."
"Is like ... Ruxomar like a Realm, almost like this realm?" The Novus asked. "Oh, sorry for interrupting, I was just a little curious about this whole Ruxomar deal. Tell me more about your family and all."
"Yeah. But anyways, I was pale. Like a white kid on a tribe, the reason I was pale was some excuse with Mianite's DNA causing my skin colour to be a little pale. I had a little sister, her name was Alyssa. She was 2 years younger than I am. She loved flowers and was interested in Botania Magic, meanwhile I was interested in Thaumian Magic. When I was 5 ... I don't know what happened. I appeared on this island, and I was just raised here. When I was 16, Tom and Tucker came along. They appeared a week apart. Tucker was here first and then Tom. Tucker was 18, and I fallen for him. I liked him, and I fallen after his 'hello' but I changed my mind after the words that came out of his mouth after that."
"You still like Tucker?" The Novus asked.
"Well-- er, I don't know. I like him, yeah. But I don't like his personality, he's rude, selfish and just short-tempered."
"Sounds like Tom."
"Yeah." I chuckled, let out a small laugh. "They're all of the same."
"Not exactly."
"All Dianitees are the same." I argued, it's true. They're always going to be the same.
"Well, I believe they aren't all of the same. They can be similar, Tom is more in your face type. As, Tucker is more behind your back. I guess they can be rude and just selfish. But they're going to be them, soon karma may affect." The Novus explained his argument. I shook my head, but I quickly just sighed in defeat. I don't know.
"I feel like, you're the only one who actually understands. The one ... who's just knows what to say. To be honest, I only meet you last night fully. You know, on our small walk through the woods? And I feel like, I could trust you with my life. You're just very understanding person."
"I don't know either, Sonja. You only meet me for a few hours and you already trust me with your life. I guess ... I don't know. I'm trying to think logically, but I don't know any solutions of the answer to this very problem."
"What?" I asked.
"Nevermind, I tried to sound smart. But it ends up confusing, don't worry. I just confused myself." I let out a small chuckled, as the Novus give out a smile. "So, tell me about Ruxomar. I talked with Tom with it after lunch, yesterday. And he has this devious aura around him, he can't be exactly trusted. And, it's interesting to hear it from you. You include details, and not too much details that I want to catch some ZZZZ(s) or something."
"Well ... I have 3 friends there. I'm best-friends with Ally and Hayli, and as for my other friend. She's kind of distract, she's kind of a hopeless romantic. She flirts with every guy, and she's kind of like desperate for love. Her name is Erin, yeah kind of a boy's name."
"But I thought all names don't have genders--"
"Besides the point, Erin is a nice person though. She's kind and just, I guess perfect. The only flaw is, she's kind of desperate for love. But anyways, the kingdom we usually go to is called Dagrun. It's ruled by the wonderful and beautiful family of King Helgrind, Queen Freya, Princess Alva and Prince Andor. Rumours have spread that Andor is gay, but who knows? It could all be rumours. Besides Dagrun, several thousands miles away, there's a kingdom called Victubia. I've only been to Victubia twice, and that's with Erin both times. Erin wanted me to come because of type of ceremony she has. Erin lives in Victubia, how she can manage to get to Dagrun and Victubia under an hour, is still a mystery. But otherwise, I don't know much of Victubia. I doubt we'll be ever go to Victubia."
"Any other cities?"
"Not any I could think of right now." I admitted, it was the truth. I don't think there any others, well there is. But those are the main kingdoms of Ruxomar. I looked at the sun, seeing it peak over the never-ending seas. "C'mon, we have breakfast. Right after breakfast, I'll give you the tips and tutorial to go full through this coma-thing."
"Why a tutorial thing? It's just a test." The Novus replied, suddenly confused why I'm offering tips to help him succeed the tests.
"Why is there only 10 demigods?" I asked.
"Well, I just thought that maybe there's only a small admit of demigods in the world--" The Novus explained.
"There's millions of demigods all over the world. We get like demigods every week, but we haven't gotten a demigod since Nade. And Nade was last month. We thought that maybe, we could have a break."
"What does this have to do with anything?" The Novus asked.
"There's a high chance of dying in the tests. And, you're the only person that seemed to make Tom happy. You understand me and Nade is talking more than he used to. He was like Hector, he was silent but then spoken more when you came. You're like a ray of sunshine."
"That's kind of depressing, saying that I'm the only happiness. With if, it's just the peace days or whatever Tom called them. What if, these days are they were waiting for. They want some type of peace, since whatever war is going on."
"Well, let's hope you're right if you do manage to die--"
"Was going to mock you, but I'm hungry. Let's go for breakfast, lead the way m'lady."
