**JJ’s Point of View**
I drove to the mother’s house. Not so much because I wanted to, but because there was an unspoken rule about Reid and driving. He may be a genius, but Spence behind a wheel was something no one really wants to see again. Ever.
We drove in silence for the first while, my thoughts still on Henry. Will hadn’t called or texted yet and I wasn’t sure whether that was a good or bad thing. Every so often I would catch Reid staring at me with a questioning look on his face.
After a while of the silence Spence broke it.
“JJ, listen, I have known you for around nine years, I know when something is up.” He says. It’s true I guess, he knew me really well.
“Please don’t profile me right now Spencer.” I said, a bit harsher than I intended
To my surprise Spencer wasn’t taken aback my rudeness and asked.
“What’s wrong? I know Blake left, but you can’t just be stressing over that. And you keep checking your phone on average every two minutes and thirty seven seconds.”
Of course, never underestimate Dr. Reid, I thought to myself.
“It Henry.” I blurt out before I could stop myself. I could feel him start to worry more at the sound of his godson’s name.
“What about-” Reid started, but I cut him off and pulled over to the side of the road.
“He’s sick, really sick. I can’t stop thinking about him. Will is home with him right now, but my mind is too. Before anything, I’m a mom and I have this terrible feeling about it all and every time I think about the missing boy I think about henry and how he looks like Henry and I just… I don’t know what to do.”
“What are his symptoms,” Reid asked quickly.
“Ummm he has headaches and a really high fever. He looks really pale, lost a lot of weight. Dizzyness… he is always tired, but can’t sleep. And he sometimes has a stomach ache.” I said my mind racing through everything that had happened in the past week with Henry.
As I spoke, I saw Spence get a really worried face, but brush it off quickly. It didn’t take a profiler to know that he knew something was very wrong too.
“Spence what is it?”
“JJ it’s nothing. Have you taken him to the doctor?”
“Yes, we took him to the ER and they ran some tests. We are still waiting on results.” I responded. My phone buzzed, but it was just Emily.
Wait Emily, I thought, I hadn’t heard from her in ages. I quickly opened the text.
“Hey um Spence, what would you say if Emily texted saying that she was visiting in two weeks.” I asked Spence.
“Emily! Wow I haven’t seen her since I went to London over a year ago.” Obviously startled by the sudden change in subject.
“Yeah… Apparently she has some big news.”
I glanced down at my phone again and realized the time. We had been talking for almost half an hour and we were supposed to be back at the station in forty-five minutes. I quickly started the car again and continued driving.
“Oh yeah, right the case. Almost forgot.” Spence said.
It felt really good to have told someone about Henry.
**Reid’s Point of View**
As we continued to drive I couldn’t stop thinking about little Henry. The symptoms were pretty serious. They could be… No, I thought to myself, that was to terrible to think about. Poor Henry. And JJ, I’ll make sure to keep an eye on her today.
“I calculated it and we have about four minutes and fifty six seconds to go. Give or take of course.” I said to JJ, trying to distract her a bit.
“Wow with you who needs a GPS?” I asked laughing a bit.
As we approached the house, in exactly four minutes and fifty six seconds, I motioned for JJ to pull up.
The house was empty inside and outside and if it wasn’t for the police tape outside, it would seem exceptionally normal.
We entered the house and split up to look around. JJ went upstairs and I stayed downstairs on the main floor. (It was a two story house)
I walked over to what must be the mother’s desk. I opened a few drawers and found nothing. On the last one that I opened something was off. Then I noticed it. Each of drawers was six by five by five, except for the last. It was five by six by two. I realized what it was immediately and called JJ.
“Hold on!” JJ called from upstairs. Approximately one minute and twelve seconds later I hear her coming down the stairs.
“I-I think I found something here” I say.
“Me too. Jamie had an early morning soccer practice this morning at 7:00am. The same time that the autopsy report showed Mary was killed. What did you find?”
“A hidden drawer I think, here help me pull it out. You’re probably much stronger than me.” I say laughing hesitantly.
I could feel her eyes roll jokingly.
In a few minutes we managed to pry the drawer open. In it we found nothing but a journal. I flipped to today and saw that she had been scheduled to meet someone named Mark at 7:15am today. I told JJ this and she grabbed the book from my hands.
“She has never met with him before today. Maybe that’s how our unsub got Mary alone to kill her.” JJ said as she flipped to the pages.
“So she dropps Jamie off at soccer practice and then goes to meet Mark. The question is, who picked Jamie up from soccer.”
“Let’s meet up with everybody and then head out to speak with the soccer coach, maybe he saw something.” JJ suggested.
