Chapter 4- Could There Be More?

The drive to the dumpsite was very quiet. With Hotch acted so strangely at the police station speaking with the head detective, there was almost an awkward silence between everyone. Reminded me of the awful days after Prentiss "died". God I miss her. Even when Blake was here, I always thought that we were never complete as a team.

In a few minutes I pulled up to the side of a deserted trail. As our S.U.V.'s could only go so far, the rest had to be hiked. It took about half an hour to hike up to our first crime scene. Our unsub had to be very fit to climb all the way here. And they would have to know the terrain.

As we approached the first dumpsite, Rossi's phone rang. He was only on the phone for a short while. I glanced at him questionally once he hung up.

"Both our victims' autopsy reports have come back, hear this. Carson was stab 34 times and had multiple defensive wounds. He also lost a lot of blood. Mary was stabbed 22 times, no defensive wounds and lost a lot of blood. Complete over kill on both victims." He explained.

The officers had said before that the area had not been cleaned up, yet there was no blood spatter anywhere. I looked at Rossi and I could tell we were thinking the same thing.

"Okay so the unsub obviously did not kill Carson here, but was able to carry the full weight a middle aged man all the way here.” I thought aloud.

"Unless there are two unsubs." Rossi said.

“Two fit men could bear the weight of him. But where is Jamie at this time?” I questioned.

“Maybe they kept him somewhere. I would imagine it would be hard to climb all the way here with a body and a child.” Rossi pondered.

"Either one or both had to know what they were doing. They left no evidence of any kind. No finger prints, nothing. And since they killed the parents, it can’t be about a ransom."

We then headed over to the other dumpsite to find basically nothing. The creek that the body was left in was small, but strong and washed away any evidence.

"Maybe this unsub was trying erase evidence on purpose." Rossi muttered aloud.

"But the other crime scene was clean and no evidence. If it is the same unsub then he wouldn't need to clean his tracks we should go back and tell Hotch and the others about the possibility of multiple unsubs. Maybe JJ and pretty boy have found something at the house."
