***Okay, so I've blown off some midterm studying, and I'm super excited, so I'm just gonna' post Chapter 6 now. I started Chapter 8 today, and I'm going to finish it today and start Chapter 9. No, seriously, Chapter 8 is literally almost done. I only need to add a couple hundred more words.***
Levi's POV
There's no way they'll give her the green light, Levi thought as he stretched in his room, she doesn't have the makings of a soldier. There's no way she'll be allowed –
"Lil' Levi!"
"STOP. THAT!"
The moment he saw her flushed face and bright eyes, Levi saw what little sanity he had go down the drain.
"No."
"Uh-huh!"
"No. No, no, no!"
"YES~!
Levi shook his head as Hanji danced around in a circle, her nappy hair whipping all over the place.
"I have been given special permission by the committee to be your personal caretaker –"
"I don't need that."
"– so that I can keep an eye on you. On top of that, I'll be getting official training, so I'll be a soldier like you!"
"Oh, god, no!"
"YAY! I can't wait to get my hands on a Titan!"
A crack echoed in the room, and Levi realized that it was his neck as he put it at an angle to look at Hanji.
"You want to see a Titan? Why?"
"I'm a medical examiner, Levi! Guess what would happen if I could keep a Titan's body from disintegrating so fast so that I could study it? That would be amazing!"
"You... I – you are...what..."
Levi internally face palmed as he tried to form a sentence, but couldn't. Then, once he gave up, he said, "One day, whether it be a random day or the day a Titan bites your head off, I have got to learn why you're so horrendously happy."
"Oh, I can tell you right now!"
"Absolutely. Not."
"Aww, but lil' Levi –"
"Shut. Up. Right. Now."
After his incident with Commander Erwin, Levi wasn't allowed to leave the hospital again until a certain amount passed by without him having a freak-out: that turned out to be six weeks, which was aggravating. During that time, Hanji had it set up where Levi could exercise more than the allotted time to ready himself for when he reenlisted in the military. During that time, the doctor had received materials from Commander Erwin to learn more about the regulations, traditions, and expeditions of the Survey Corps.
Levi had to admit: it was interesting to watch Hanji's eyes grow wider and wider as she discovered more and more. In fact, now that Levi thought about it, Hanji had mentioned something about studying Titans. Something along the lines of, "The Survey Corps stopped studying Titans due to lack of interest and funds. I've got plenty of interest!"
"But no funds" Levi had said, and had left it at that. That was four weeks ago. Apparently, Hanji hadn't let go of the dream.
Levi looked out the window of his room, blinded by the afternoon Sun. He was ready to be out there. Erwin had assured him that there was a spot waiting for him, and several rookies had stopped by the hospital, their arms overflowing with cards that read, 'Can't Wait to See You!' and 'Welcome Back, Captain!'. Levi would be lying if he said he hadn't been moved a little, but he was sure not to show it. If he was going to get soft, there was no reason in rejoining his fellow soldiers.
