***HEY! I've got an idea: who wants to take a guess as to how many chapters we've got left in this?***
Levi's POV
"Now, tell me from the beginning how Hanji's alive."
Moblit had, in fact, explained the entire story front to back, but it had all sounded like gibberish to Levi as he saddled up his steed and rode out. Now, he was a lot more clearheaded, so he wanted Moblit to repeat himself, which the cadet did not want to do.
"Alright. I was going to bury Hanji behind her cabin – I thought it was fitting. But when I reached the back of the cabin, I felt Hanji over again and felt a slight pulse in her throat. Believe me, I was shocked. All that blood...she couldn't have possibly survived losing that much."
"Anyway, I immediately realized that something was off, so I immediately rode into town and took her to her home hospital. First, I had the blood she was drenched in tested."
"Tested?" Levi asked, "What for?"
"To see if it was hers."
If it was hers? Why wouldn't it –?
"Eighty-seven percent of it wasn't."
"Eighty-seven" Levi repeated, "Ok. Never mind. Don't go back to the beginning. Just confirm what I'm about to say: Erwin did this."
"Huh? Well, yeah. At least, that's what Hanji told me, but what made you think that? I didn't even come to that conclusion on my own."
Because I'm an idiot. A complete and utter idiot!
"Erwin tried to kill Hanji once before."
"Huh? Where? Why?"
"He hates it" Levi explained, "He hates that I've changed, and he hates that Hanji's the reason I've changed. But I'm fine with it. I was reborn, in a sense. When you're reborn, you're a different person, right?"
"I would say so" Moblit muttered, "But, still, that doesn't sound like the Commander: to just lose it like that. It had to be more than just you changing."
"It was" Levi admitted, "Erwin had a crush on me. He kissed me a little while ago. That's what I was running from."
"What?!"
Levi nodded, still unable to fully understand the predicament himself. Erwin was his commander and confidant. Never had the 6'3" giant made it known in any way that he felt more for Levi. The captain wished he had so that all of this could be avoided, but he had nothing to feel remorseful for. Erwin made the decision to attack Hanji; he could've held himself back if he wanted.
It was pitch black by the time Moblit and Levi reached town, but that was just fine with the latter. When they reached the hospital, Levi dismounted and made Moblit tell him where to go. Moblit nodded slightly, and stormed into the hospital like he owned the place. It wasn't long until Levi was making his way to the fifth floor, his heart pounding like an ambitious drum.
Hanji's alive. My fiancée's alive.
"Moblit, can I ask you a favor?"
"Of course, Captain."
"I want to be alone with Hanji; wait outside the room for me."
