Three Days Later

Hazels Pov:

Cynthia, John, and Julien are finally arriving back home tonight. I tidied up the apartment. I missed them so much. Every night I was alert and paranoid by every little noise the house produced. They have a lot to catch up on. Either I tell them or Paul tells them or we could act like nothing happened. I rather act heedless to the situation but John can always detect when something suspicious is going on. I know exactly how Cynthia would react, she'd scold and lecture me. John would laugh and make sarcastic jokes. The worst part is the satisfaction I felt when I slept with Paul but the guilt is what's killing me. We didn't do anything, we both just fell asleep or at least I think we did. He was shirtless, maybe he sleeps shirtless every night. I honestly hate myself. Jane's reaction keeps haunting me. Her reaction is what's keeping me up at night, I haven't slept ever since I've slept with Paul. His presence helped me fall asleep easily, I guess because I felt safe around him. If he only he knew how much I wanted him then he could just run away with me. Sometimes I wish I never met Paul so I wouldn't be able to hurt Jane.

I eagerly waited for Cynthia, John, and Julien in the living room. I sat on the couch and smiled to myself. Any moment they'd be here. For me, it feels like a decade since I've seen them. I hate being long distance from my best friends. I glared at the clock and it read 2:46 PM. I heard the jamming of key and the door swing open. John entered holding luggage and Cynthia was carrying Julien. I jumped up and ran to give Cynthia a hug.

"Hi!" I screeched. "Oh my gosh, I've missed you guys so much. You don't even know how much I've missed you."

I hugged Cynthia and Julien tighter.

"We've missed you too." Cynthia smiled. She looked at John and widened her eyes. I didn't let go. "Hazel, I cant breathe."

I quickly let go and awkwardly smiled at her. "Sorry."

"Its okay." she laughed.

"Hi, Julien." I said. I kissed him on the cheek and patted his head. He giggled and waved at me.

"I'm going to put Julien down for his nap, I'll be right back." Cynthia said. She walked to Julien's room and closed the door behind her. I turned around to John and smirked at him. He put the baggage down and we embraced.

"I've missed your quirky sense of humor, John." I whispered. He softly laughed.

"I've missed you, Hazel." he pointed out.

"I've been yearning to see you guys. Like I said before, you don't know how much I've missed all of you." I honestly said. He let go and stared at me.

"I must say, the ratchet bags underneath your eyes are very attractive." he ridiculed me. I backed away from him and faked a laugh.

"Haha, yeah." I quietly said. Cynthia entered the room and sat on the couch.

"When was the last time you've slept?" John interrogated me. Probably a century ago. I'm bad at keeping track of things.

"That doesn't matter. It matters that you guys are home and safe." I tried to distract them.

"Haha, nice try. Tell me, when was the last time you've slept?" he asked, again. I sat on the couch across from Cynthia and John stood over me with his hands crossed.

I was getting pissed off by John and his substantial need to know everything I do. I felt like bursting out 'Well, John, the last time I've gotten some sleep was when I was sleeping with your lad, Paul! I haven't slept since!'. I wish I had the optimistic personality to tell him that.
