1 ∞ the adventures of supergirl, scooby doo and mayo head
The sound of crinkling foil filled the room as Lily Stilinski rolled around in her chair, a startled look on her face as her eyes met her twin brother's. Things may have really changed that year but it seemed their relationship would always be the same; he still didn't know how to knock. Lily wasn't the only one who looked surprised as Stiles furrowed his eyebrows, scanning her appearance in confusion – she currently had strips of foil in her hair, in a dressing gown that was probably ruined and had towels all over the surrounding area. She hadn't told him she was planning to dye her hair so this was probably a huge surprise to him.
"Lily?" Jackson's voice rang out from the laptop in front of her, "You still here?"
Both twins ignored Jackson as Stiles raised his eyebrow, "What are you doing?"
"Jackson wanted a hair tutorial on how to dye his hair blonde," Lily blurted. That wasn't at all the case – in fact, it was more like she was forcing Jackson to watch her hair tutorial. Her bestfriend, Jackson, had moved to England over the summer so now they were only able to see each other over video – which is what they did whenever they had time. At first, Lily had been distraught about him leaving but understood why he needed to; a lot of things went down before summer.
"So you're dyeing your own hair blonde?" Stiles frowned, "Why not just link him to a hair tutorial?"
"That's not what true friendship is, Stiles," Lily shook her head. He responded by sending her a disbelieving look to which she just sighed at, "Okay. Scott is getting his tattoo and I wanted to do something too so I'm dyeing my hair blonde."
"And you didn't think to tell anyone?"
"I was gonna surprise you guys," she pouted, "Please don't tell anyone – I wanna see their reactions." Lily had told some people though; she'd told Lydia, Allison and Jackson – in fact, Lydia had picked out the shade of blonde and given Lily the instructions for how to dye her hair. How Lydia knew was beyond Lily since she was supposed to be a natural redhead but she trusted her words of wisdom; Lydia pretty much knew everything about everything. "What did you need anyway?"
"I thought you wanted to come with Scott to get the tattoo," Stiles furrowed his eyebrows.
Gasping dramatically, Lily put her head in her hands, regretting it instantly as her hands crinkled the foil, "That was tonight? Ugh, I can't leave unless I want my hair to fall off." Stiles nodded, waving goodbye and leaving the room. Don't offer to wait or anything, she thought sarcastically. As she heard him go down the stairs, Lily shouted after him, "Film it for me please! And don't let him get a tramp stamp!" Once the door shut, she rolled back around in her chair to find Jackson with his eyes shut. It was really late in England so she wasn't surprised.
"Psst," she whispered, "Jackass, I turned around for like two seconds and you fell asleep on me?" He didn't reply, obviously fast asleep. "I'll send you a picture when it's done," Lily told him even though he probably couldn't hear her, "Goodnight." She clicked off the Skype call and shut her laptop, releasing a huge sigh and turning to the mirror. There was still around five more minutes before she could wash the bleach off and now that she was alone, she was beginning to question her decision. What if it didn't come out how she expected? What if it didn't suit her?
When the timer was on two minutes and Lily was still spiralling into a mind tunnel of worry, her phone began vibrating. Looking away from the mirror, she glanced at the caller ID, an involuntary smile covering her face. She bit her lip to stop it, breathing a breath to calm herself before answering the phone. "Hello?" she said, her voice as casual as she could manage. You'd think after a few months of dating, she'd be much cooler.
