5 ∞ peace in the unrest
If someone were to call Lily lazy then she would tell them to come say that to her face – because she wouldn't want to move from where she was sitting or lying. The only reason she took cross country was because she needed the extra credit, otherwise, she would be living it up with a free period. So of course when she'd found her shortcut, she'd chosen to take advantage of it. Sneaking away had been hard at first but now she was a pro and usually came prepared with some form of entertainment while she waited it out.
Sitting down against a tree, she rolled her eyes as the phone kept ringing. She was currently trying to FaceTime with Jackson – thank god for unlimited data – but it didn't seem like he was going to pick up. When he finally picked up, she found herself singing, "Hello, it's me-"
"-shouldn't you be in lesson?" he cut her off, his voice dry. Jackson was running his fingers through his hair, watching himself in the camera rather than looking at her.
"I am in lesson actually," she smirked, "Cross country."
"I can't believe you've lasted this long without getting caught," he scoffed.
Lily shrugged, "What can I say? I'm a ninja." He only pulled a face in response and she could tell that he was not in a good mood. "What're you doing? I can't tell what's in the background." Sighing, he waved the camera around so that she could see and she found with disappointment that it was just his bedroom. When they'd first moved in, he'd given her a tour of the room and she'd complained about some of the décor but could do nothing about it while in a different country."You're at home? That's weird. You're literally never at home unless the sun is down and you need to sleep."
Jackson didn't look amused, responding, "I wasn't in the mood to go out today." She opened her mouth to ask why but he quickly got into rant mode, flopping onto his bed as he scowled, "There's this girl–" He must have noticed the excited grin that covered her face because he rolled his eyes, adding, "-don't get excited it's not what you think. I hate her."
"Oh," Lily frowned, "That's disappointing."
"She's so annoying," he continued, "She thinks she's so hot and great – and she is hot but I mean, come on. And I swear she has a problem with me. She seems to love everyone but me-"
"-well it sounds like you have a problem with her," she pointed out.
"I have a problem with everyone."
"Maybe that's why she doesn't like you," Lily suggested casually, though Jackson's response to her suggestion was nowhere near casual. She found him glaring at her, a betrayed look on his face and Lily found it strange that he cared so much. Usually Jackson could care less about what most people thought about him but here he was, getting all hot and bothered about some girl. "Have you tried being nice to her?"
A loud snort emanated from the phone as Jackson started laughing, obviously taking what she said as a joke. Shaking his head, he looked back at his phone to see she was wearing a serious expression. "Oh wow, you meant that seriously," he scoffed, "No way, Lil, I gotta give it back to her as much as she's giving it to me. If she wants a problem, we can have a problem." His face was determined and Lily thought she might have a feeling about where this whole escapade was going to be heading.
"Have... have you considered that you just might want to..." Lily bit her lip to stop herself from grinning, "Bone her?" The moment the words left her mouth she was giggling, covering her mouth with her free hand like a little kid that had said a bad word she wasn't supposed to.
