"So where does your father think you really are exactly?" Derek questioned as Lily made her way into the loft.

It had been a week since she'd woken up and she'd spent the first few days under the watchful eyes of everyone, figuring out how to walk again and trying remember what had happened. Whilst the former had come much easier than expected, it seemed that her memories from that week weren't going to ever come back to her. That being said, she'd had a couple of nightmares that she couldn't decipher and occasionally felt an overwhelming sense of fear and sadness but she figured that it was some kind of PTSD.

"Lydia's," she smiled, "Though I get the sense that he kind of knew I was lying but let me go anyway because he's been really anxious to make sure that I'm happy and okay. I kind of feel bad actually now that I'm thinking about it." She furrowed her eyebrows as she headed deeper into the loft, stopping when she noticed the vase on the table.

Derek was busy quickly trying to clean up the mess despite the fact that Lily didn't care at all about it. She didn't say anything because she thought it was cute. Frowning, she gently touched the lilies in the vase. "They're dying," she stated, earning Derek's worried and surprised glance. When he saw that she was referring to the flowers, his face filled with relief.

"Well, flowers do tend to do that," Derek sighed as he walked over to her, grabbing her hand to pull her away from the table.

"I'm upset that you're not more upset," Lily pouted, glaring slightly at him.

He let out a surprised chuckle, pulling her into his arms for a warm hug. Despite trying to be upset, she melted into his embrace, her head resting against his chest. As usual she took comfort in his steady heartbeat and she imagined that if she could have an anchor, he'd be it. "I'm just glad you came back to us, Lily," he breathed and she could have sworn that he was taking in her scent - or in the less elegant sense of the term, sniffing her hair.

Frowning, Lily struggled as she tried to pull forward the words that had followed her when she'd woken up. It had been something Derek had said to her but she couldn't remember what. Instead, all that swam forth was the sadness and she found herself clutching onto him tighter, becoming a culprit of 'taking in his scent' as well.

Sensing the shift in mood, Derek pulled away to look at her face. She didn't allow it though, only gripping tighter. Resigning himself to just stroking her hair, he frowned in concern, "If it's really bothering you that much then we can just get some new lilies tomorrow morning. Same florist and everything."

Lily felt her stomach flutter at his words, her lips tipping up and her sadness pushed back down beneath the surface. Pulling away but keeping her arms around him, she met his eyes, finding that he was looking down at her in worry. How had she managed to get such a hot guy to care about her as much as Derek did? She could only thank whatever it was about the forest that gave it wishing granting properties.

"I love you so much, Derek," she breathed, eyes appraising his features.

His eyebrows furrowed slightly in confusion but he nodded, kissing her forehead and replying, "I love you too, Lily."

Pulling her arms from around his torso, she raised her hands to his face, finding a sense of familiarity in the roughness of his stubble. This was the first time they'd been completely alone since she'd woken up. He looked down at her with an intense expression, eyes flickering about her face quickly. They lingered on her lips, making her heart skip a beat, before coming back to her eyes.

"Am I really going to have to make the first move?" Lily smirked, raising a flirty brow.

"It's the twenty-first century," Derek replied, though he leaned in slightly, "I support equality."
