Unexpected

Alicia James

It's a mild Wednesday at the police department in Wentworth. The officers and I on this missing persons case are in the Conference Room. Rollens starts off the briefing.

"Alright everyone, what do you guys have here?" Silence fills the room for twenty minutes. 

I break the silence. "Well when Rollens and I went to Mills, we gathered all of their schedules and they all have one thing in common."

"They were all business majors," Jordan Rogers adds.

"Yes," says Rollens, "That means that they could've have been looking for internships or jobs or were being apart of a business trip as and incentive of a business or businesses."

"Okay so my partner Noah Poe and I looked up how many businesses were doing business trips as an incentive and we found a total of 5 big business companies." Morgan Bishop adds.

"What are they?" Rollens asks.

"Allen & Rhodes Law, Collings Communications, BNB Studios, Treetop Insurance and Harting Communications."

Collings. Where have I heard that name before?

"Okay, so we have three pairs of us and five big businesses with our potential unsub, Jess and Jordan, which one or ones do you want?" Rollens asks. Jess and Jordan share a whispered chat before Jess Sherwood speaks. I grab my notepad and a pen.

"We want Allen & Rhodes Law and BNB Studios," Jess Sherwood says.

I scribble the businesses next to their names.

"Morgan and Noah?" I ask. Morgan and Noah share a whispered chat as well.

"We want Treetop Insurance and Harting Communications. I heard that Collings guy is a dick." Noah Poe says.

Collings....Collings... why does that sound familiar?

The other pair of detectives agreed. I scribble the businesses next to their names also.

"Okay Rollens, we have Collings Communications. Is everyone else good with their choices?" I ask and everyone nods.

"Alright then, let's get to work." I say and everyone disperses from the Conference Room. Rollens and I walk back to our desks. I sit there, wracking my brain on where I have heard that name before.

Think Alicia, think. 

"You okay Alicia?" asks Rollens as she looks at me with concern.

I snap out of my daze. "Huh? Yeah, I'm just trying to find out where I heard that name before."

"What Collings?"

I nod.

"Well, Alicia my love, that's what the internet is for." She says and I smile. She opens the web browser and types in 'Collings Communications' in the search box.

"Well the CEO is Jeffrey Collings and he is 29 almost 30 and is married to a Sasha Wellings, well now Sasha Wellings-Collings." She says to me as she reads it from the computer screen.

"Alicia, this is my boss Jeffrey Collings and his date, Sasha Wellings."

"Holy shit, Rollens," I say as I place my hand on her arm.

"Yeah?" she asks.

"That's Eddy's boss and his wife."

"You've got to be fucking shitting me?" She says. My eyes go to the screen.

"No I'm not, that's definitely them," I say as my eyes stay glued to their picture on the screen.

"Okay let's go see about their business trips at Mills." Rollens says. I grab the car keys and head out to Collings Communications.
