I walk along the cracked pavement, leaves flying everywhere, drifting off into the night. The street lamps are on, casting minimal light on the sidewalk. I stuff my hands in my jacket, blowing air out of my mouth, it being visible because of the below negative temperature that always accompanies winter.

It's almost three am, so everyone is asleep, except me. I've always been a night owl, but tonight was different. My mind was on overdrive, so many theories and ideas were running through my head, I just had to get out of my small apartment and get some fresh air.

As I near a bench, a figure can be seen laying on it. 'Probably another homeless old man. I wish I had some money to give him.' I think sadly, drawing closer to the figure. As I become almost parallel to the guy on the bench, I learn that he is in fact not an old man but a teenage guy. This perks my curiosity, immediately making me stop and open my mouth, asking the guy a simple question.

  "What are you doing?"

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm sitting down on this fucking bench." The guy seethes, sitting up immediately after I asked the question, his face being hidden by the lack of light. Maybe I shouldn't get myself caught up in all this. He could be a drug dealer, or worse, a murderer. But these thoughts don't run me off, though. They only make me more interested in finding out about this mysterious person. What they say is true, curiosity killed the cat.

"I mean, why are you sitting outside in the cold at 3 am without a jacket? You must be freezing, I can tell by the way your teeth are chattering." I look at the guy in pity. He looks about my age, brown hair swept to the side. His clothes are thin, only a t-shirt and jeans. His shirt is torn on the side which made me confused as to what happened to this guy that lead him here?

"It's none of your business. Now leave me alone, please."

I sigh, obviously not going to get any answers that would satisfy my inquisitive mind. I opt for my second option, which is to at least get to know his name.

I sit down beside him on the bench, ignoring the glare he gives me. I take off my hoodie and hand it to him. He looks at me, his facial expression confused.

   "What are you doing?"

I look at him, my voice filled with sass.

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm handing you my hoodie because I can tell you are cold. And don't even try to deny the offer because I'm a pretty stubborn guy and I won't take no for an answer." I smile at him, shaking the hoodie up and down, waiting for him to grab it. He sighs, a faint smile reaching his lips. He whispers a thank you and puts it on, it fitting him just right. He looks at me directly in the eyes, which makes it easier to see his face.

His left eye was bruised and there was a cut on his cheek and lip that were both still bleeding. How did I not notice this before? He looks so tired, like he could fall asleep on the spot. 'He must be so worn out. I need to help him.' I reach out to touch his cheek where the cut was, his reflexes immediately making him flinch away. An alert went off in my head, my deduction skills finally reaching a conclusion. He was beaten up, clearly. But by who? I look down to see his knuckles are bloody, in definite need of bandaging.

"You know, my apartment is a few blocks down from here. I have a first aid kit in the kitchen and it looks like you need it. Also a place to sleep. People will think you're homeless if you sleep on a bench." I try to joke, his response of silence making me regret even opening my mouth. After a few minutes of awkward fidgeting from me and blank stares from him, he answers. "Those people would be right," He scoffs, his eyes looking down at his hands, "And thanks for the help, but I'm good. I can take care of myself."

"Look, I know you don't know me and I don't know you. But I do know that you need help, whether you want to admit it or not. My mother always taught me to care for others even when they don't want your help. I don't know what you've been through that put you in this state but I'm willing to help you and it doesn't seem like anyone else is. So please stop being a stubborn brat and just come with me to my apartment so I can fix you up and let you sleep because it looks like you need it. And no need to worry about all that kidnapping stuff with me because I'm literally a twig and you are ten times stronger than me. I just want to help." I huff, letting all the annoyance that I've been holding in out.

It's silent for a few seconds and I'm scared that I had messed up but then I hear a giggle. I look over to the stranger to see him giggling.

"Are you giggling?" I ask incredulously, my eyes going wide.

"I'm sorry but," his laughter exploding again, making him not able to finish his sentence. "You called yourself a twig?" He laughs some more, wiping tears that spilled from his eyes.

"What's so funny about me being weak?" I ask, puffing my chest out to pretend like I'm shocked. He giggles some more at that, but eventually calms down and shakes his head.

"My name is Kim Mingyu." He smiles at me, holding his hand out for me to shake.

"My name is Jeon Wonwoo and I think that you are coming home with me tonight." I smirk, getting up off the bench.

  "I think maybe you're right."
