family

-third person

After the emotional hug and the happiness that was shared between the two, Wonwoo still had to get to work. Of course he didn't want to leave the atmosphere that him and Mingyu had created in his little apartment, the atmosphere that felt like home and pure joy, but sadly he did have to leave. Mingyu decided to join the elder, because who wants to be left alone in a house that isn't yours and he kinda lowkey wanted to see what Wonwoo's mom is like. Maybe she is better than his mom, more loving and caring. Maybe she actually likes to spend time with her son. Things Mingyu's mom surely never does.

As they walk to the shop that Wonwoo's mother owns, they get to know each other better, learning the basics like favorite colors, birthdays, ages, hobbies, and what music they are into. Turns out both boys are total fanboys which doesn't really surprise anyone. The conversation is simple and lighthearted, only stopping when they finally reach their destination. It's a quaint little shop in the middle of a shopping center type place. The outside is decorated more plain but the inside is colorful, warm, and playful. The shop is a coffee shop, different kinds of pastries and coffees displayed on signs. It seems fairly busy, all the employees scurrying around. It took Mingyu a second to get over the fact that this place was nice. And that it was owned by Wonwoo's family.

Wonwoo just laughs at Mingyu's starstruck face, of course he is used to the bustle of the coffee shop, he was practically raised there. He grabs Mingyu's wrist to lead him to the back where Wonwoo's apron is held.

"It's nice to finally have someone to bring here." Wonwoo says over the loudness of the coffee shop. Wonwoo's brother proposed to his husband here, his father proposing to his mother here also. It's a family tradition in a way. One that Wonwoo still hasn't accomplished.

They wind their way through the coffee shop, finally finding the storage room where the personal belongings of the staff are kept. Wonwoo leads Mingyu the whole way, never letting go of his hand. It's not like either of them wanted to let go, rather that they wanted to keep holding on because for the first time in both of their lives, it felt like they finally had found something worth holding on to. And neither of them wanted to let go of that.

"Who is this handsome boy you brought with you Wonwoo?" Wonwoo's mother appears, making both boys jump slightly and separate their hands. Mingyu blushes at the comment which makes Wonwoo feel happy. Mingyu glances over to the lady that is Wonwoo's mother. She's a short lady with a petite frame. You can tell she has aged with some wrinkles lining her face. She has her hair tied up so its out of her way. She looks exactly like the stereotypical caring mother that every kid like Mingyu wished to have.

"This is my friend, Mingyu. He is staying with me for a couple of days." Mingyu side glances at Wonwoo, surprise written all over his face. He figured that he would tell his mother about how they had just met last night and that it looked like Mingyu had practically killed someone when they met but the way he said it so casually sounded like they had known each other for awhile. 'Maybe he doesn't want his mother to start asking questions about me that even he doesn't know the answers to.' Mingyu silently hopes that's what it is because if so, he is eternally grateful to his new friend.

"Ah Wonwoo, finally decided to show up on time, eh?" A short waiter comes up and slaps Wonwoo on the back, his laugh exploding in the silence that engulfed the trio. He is handsome to say the least. His face is clear and sparkling. His hair is long, it being pulled back into a ponytail so to not get in his way. He sounds older than Wonwoo, but doesn't look taller. Wonwoo just smiles and laughs off the comment, then looking towards me. "Gyu, meet Jeonghan. He's a waiter here."

"A waiter? More like the waiter. The name is Jeonghan, part time mother of good ole Wonwon here and also employee of the month." He flashes a large smile and sticks his hand out for Mingyu to shake. He shakes his hand timidly, not wanting to be rude but also not very good at meeting new people. "I'm Mingyu." is his short reply.

"So, are you two a thing or am I just seeing things?" Jeonghan asks, Wonwoo's mother immediately slapping him on the back of the head.

"Get back to work and leave them alone." She scolds and Jeonghan scurries off, getting back to what he was doing before. "Sorry about him, he's a bit too much to handle at times." She smiles at Mingyu then bidding goodbye to continue her work.

Wonwoo went to work after that. Mingyu made himself settled in a corner seat for two, a perfect view of the counter where he could watch his new friend. At times when no one was in the shop or he was on break, Wonwoo would bring Mingyu a cup of coffee and sit down with him. They would talk aimlessly, mostly Wonwoo did the talking but neither of them minded, they just enjoyed the company of the other. Sometimes Wonwoo would introduce him to the other employees there. Some of them Mingyu quickly grew fond of. Minghao is a busboy, cleaning up the coffee mugs and cleaning the tables after customers leave. He is a quirky person with a cute baby face. Already on his first day of meeting him, Minghao got Mingyu sucked into his love life. Everyone at the coffee shop knew of Minghao's crush on the painter that would buy coffee every morning at 8:45 am precisely. He would always order the same thing and would sit at the same table. "His name is Wen Junhui and he works at the gallery down the street. His art is amazing, no joke. He has such a wonderful personality too." Minghao gushes passionately. He talks as if he knows everything about him, which may be true. But he hasn't even said one word to the painter, his nerves always catching up to him at the last moment.

He also met the two baristas, Seungchoul and Soonyoung. Seungchoul was the supposed "dad" of the staff, always taking care of each staff member and making sure they got to work on time. He was really nice to talk to and Mingyu really enjoys his embarrassing stories that he tells of Wonu. Soonyoung was the complete opposite of the calm and collected Seungchoul. Oh no, he was absolutely different. He has a big personality and is always cracking jokes. He has this feeling that surrounds him, it immediately makes you feel happy just by being next to him.

Throughout the whole day, Mingyu analyzes everyone. Most of the staff are gay which makes Mingyu feel especially comfortable being able to talk to them. The one person he likes to analyze the most is Wonwoo. Wonwoo is so different from everyone else, he has his own world that he lives in. He takes the time to stop and think about a little gesture that someone did. He kept making sure that Mingyu was okay, asked about his bandages and tried to inspect his side but Mingyu wouldn't let him. It was so different than how Mingyu's days usually go. He had a person that wanted to care for him and he didn't exactly know what to do with that information.

The staff of the coffee shop was like a family, everyone having their own place that they fit in. It makes Mingyu feel safe and loved for the second time in his life, the first being just the night before where he was laying in Wonwoo's arms.

Maybe Wonwoo will change his life and for the better, too.
