Chapter Ninteen

I had seen my doctor a few times since my first appointment; I was now 19 weeks pregnant and tomorrow’s my ultrasound. I was very excited to find out the sex of the baby, but I was also scared because I still haven’t told Cody and he was coming home in a week and a half. I got up and ready for the day, I really enjoyed looking at my belly now. I’d stand in front from of my mirror for hours just rubbing my belly, Marie and Rachael would sometimes watch.

        “So today we find out we’re having a boy, right?” Marie asked.

        I sighed, “I’m telling you, I’m having a girl.”

        “Boy!” Rachael yelled from the living room.

        “I’m having a girl, dammit!” I snapped.

        Marie started to laugh, “Rey remember her hormones are crazy, don’t piss her off.”

        “Shut up!” I said as I pushed passed Marie to talk into the living room.

        I walked into the kitchen and grabbed myself some food, we had a few hours before the appointment so I wanted to eat. I made myself some eggs, toast, and bacon. I made enough food for everyone and we all sat and ate our food around the table. Before I knew it, it was finally time for us all to get into my car and go to the doctor’s office.

        When we got there, I was nervous again. I wanted a girl and from when Cody and I would joke about having a baby one day, he always said how he wanted a boy. I was scared he’d get his way and I’d be stuck bummed out. I mean I’d love that baby no matter what, but I also wanted it to be a girl because then I can rub it into Rachael’s and Marie’s face. Although, Marie wasn’t even supposed to be here, she was supposed to be in Cincinnati at school. She came down just for the appointment.

        I checked in and did the usual, pee in a cup, hand it off and then wait. I was rather used to the routine. I was shaking because I was nervous and Rachael grabbed my hand. They called my name and before I knew it I was laying back on the table with the weird goo on my belly once more. I looked up and both Rachael and Marie who were excited.

        “Are we ready to find out the sex of the baby?” the tech asked.

        I smiled, “Beyond ready.”

        “What are we hoping for?” she asked.

        “I want a girl, they say it’s a boy and daddy has no idea.” I admitted.

        Marie sighed, “She won’t tell him.”

        “I will, later.” I pointed out.

        The tech started to move the monitor around when we heard the baby’s heartbeat. I smiled again. A very huge smiled; I loved how strong the baby’s heartbeat was. She pushed on the baby a little big to make the baby roll over, she pointed to the screen.

        “Do you see that?” she asked.

        I smiled, “See what?”

        “Exactly.” She said smiling.

        “Oh my, I’m having a girl?” I nearly yelled in excitement, I felt as Rachael’s body was against mine.

        “I’m so happy; I’ll love her better than any other aunt ever will!” Marie said.

        I smiled, “She only has two aunts.”

        “I’ll love her more than Rey than!” she admitted.
