Nobody moved a muscle and the eery silence of the tunnel makes your thumping heart beat seem much louder than it actually is. You can just make out the silhouettes of your brother and Harry up ahead as relief fills you, they hadn't been shot.
However the same couldn't be said for about half of the group, their lifeless bodies now strewn across the floor as if they'd been mowed down easily. The thought made you feel sick, the puddles of blood seemed to keep expanding out in the gloom. Like a growing monster of death, trying to reach the survivors with its claws.
You shuddered and looked around at the line of people who didn't move a muscle either, petrified that even the slightest spasm of a leg could result in them being shot to pieces. They'd just be another dark mass of shadow that lays still on the ground, you gulped down the fear and the guilt that bubbled up inside of you. The guilt was because you were stood there, breathing and alive, when so many of the people weren't.
After a while there seemed to be no more movement coming from the end of the tunnel, signalling that they had left.

Carry on up the tunnel, but stick to the shadows (40)
Or go and check the surrounding bodies for any survivors (11)
