When my dad said I could go, I'm pretty sure everyone thought he was saying yes because of my grades and the amount of love my dear father has for me.Right?
Wrong. Guess who's the athletic, asshat who lied about his company with the rest of the squad.
That's right, face-smashed-by-the-door Squidward. Ashton.
I'll admit he's not ugly, but there's no way I'm telling him or his ego will grow to be the size of Teyla's hair.
It didn't even make sense, seeing as how strict my dad is with guys. He even lectured me on them, then told me to only stay at Aunt Amelia's place.
That morning when Ashton texted me saying that he was going, made me want to jump out my attic window.
I had stuffed my whole room in my book bag and a medium sized duffel bag. Even if delicate things were being smushed, I still managed to pack in a foot roll up.
As I waited for the others to show up in Mrs. Jones car, I silently pray that we wouldn't be able to fit with Ashton. My parents were already up, watching tv with mugs of coffee in their hands. Mom was sitting Indian style, in sweats and one of my dad's shirt, while my dad had one leg on my moms lap and laughing about who knows what.
Goals.
I sat on the stairs, waiting for a simple text with mug of coffee that is slowly waking me up. It's around 8:30 am and still too early to function.
A car honk from outside surprised me. My mom and dad nodded at me goodbye, and I ran out the house yelling 'bye'.
In all honestly, I hadn't checked the weather app in days, and should've checked before running out into the snow flurry that attacked me. As if a little break made me think we were in summer or something. Instead, there was salt in the drive way, and snow covering the lawn.
I hug my sweater, trying to hold in the little heat left. Once I threw my stuff into the back and settled into the car, I see Vanessa driving with Teyla in the passenger seat. Damien sat behind Teyla in the middle seat along with Ashton. Eva and Kendall sat in the back...all alone. Well not necessarily, Inez was next to them but she was in her own world with her headphones in.
I sat next to Damien, and twisted around to smirk at Eva.
"I'd hate to hear you making out, so could you keep it to short kisses?" I tease.
Eva smacks me and I turn around laughing to face Damien.
"We have to spend a whole weekend with the lovebirds?" Damien groans.
I nod and it earned another hit from Eva.
Ashton was strangely quiet, but he did have headphones on as well. Everyone was in their own little bubble or at least talking to someone, but not the whole group.
Oh yeah, it's going great, I thought.

About 20 minutes of silence later, Teyla had turned up the volume on the radio and began wiggling in her seat. Damien laughed at Teyla's failed attempt of dancing, and rapped along to the song. Eva quickly pulled out her phone to record Inez danced along as well. She headbanged and it wasn't even rock but that's her thing. Kendall just shook his head. I laughed and looked back at Ashton who was smiling at the rest, then smugly smirked at me.
I rolled my eyes and looked back at the rest of the squad finally lighting up to have some energy at 8:50 in the morning.
After the car seat, dance battle, Vanessa pulled into a Walmart and shut off the engine.
