I wish I could be like the rest of the crowd and brush off this fight as a piece of cake.
But I couldn't.
I was that person (along with Teyla, Eva and Inez) that were on edge watching the opponent go down. I'll admit it was pretty fast but sure as hell entertaining in a malicious kind of way.
Once the Desensitizer finished, he jumped out the arena and walked through the crowd in pure victory. Everyone was hollering his name, it was a hypnotizing buzz that I fell into, following along. Drinks were starting to be given out and music was coming out of what seemed to be under the floor.
A tug at my arm, who was Ashton, was pulling me through the crowd. I instantly grab a hold of Eva and she drags Teyla and Vanessa and the rest to follow.
It seemed as if the world was slowing down and the vibrations were more prominent as I took in the environment. People bouncing to the music, variety of conversations going on, people grabbing each other and stopping Ashton once in a while saying who knows what. I felt my chest vibrate to the music which was getting louder and the smell of sweat and alcohol was much more powerful.
We descended another flight of stairs to a darker floor with flashing purple lights that made it hard to adjust to my surroundings. Music was blaring through speakers around the room and people were drinking and dancing and smoking like nothing could harm or stop them.
I lost sight of Ashton in the crowd but I was still with Teyla, Eva and Inez who decided to blend in with the rest and dance. Who was I kidding, I did too and it felt great. Having the music go through my body and moving to it, it all felt right. I lost myself in every song that played and kept going till some song I wasn't familiar with played.
Inez and I walked off to one side of the room where people weren't dancing to grab a bottle of water from the exhaustion.
"I was not expecting to dance tonight." Inez huffed before taking a sip. I nodded and looked at the crowd excitedly dancing to who knows what. It was amazing seeing different groups of people made up of different personalities that somehow harmonized into a group that got along.
People watching man, it gets you thinking on another level.
"Wanna get a drink?" Inez asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"What water isn't good enough for you?" I teased. She rolled her eyes and pulled me to where a girl was filling up her cup from a barrel. I always thought these things only existed in western movies at those saloons. Apparently Inez thought the same.
"I can finally say I have had a proper beer." We laughed and grabbed a cup from the table next to it and poured ourselves a beer.
Just as I was about to drink up, my cup got snatched out of my hand by Eva who glared at me.
"Don't be stupid, someone could've spiked that." She scolded.
I rolled my eyes and snatched it back. "Who could possibly get into that barrel to spike it?"
Teyla easily lifted the lid to the barrel- which I may add didn't know could be opened- and raised an eyebrow at me.
Inez and I both had to throw out our cups and go back to our bottled water with Vanessa, who appeared out of no where like usual, and Eva eying us.
Damien stumbled towards us with an arm around Amy who hooked us up with drinks earlier. She was full on smiling when she approached us, like she had something we didn't.
Hm.
"How's your night so far? I'm having a great time!" She yelled over the music.
Teyla shifted a little before answering in a strained voice, "Its been great but it's really crowded."
