Welcome, contestants and readers, to the first ever Grand Final of Wattpad's Next Rising Star(WNRS)!
It has been a long journey getting here, but the best things in life are worth waiting for. When we began this competition, we never thought we'd get the response we did, and we still can't believe the level of talent you guys have shown. The four finalists who've reached the Grand Final have fought and overcome every obstacle to get here, surviving months of brutal competition, hard tasks, and 140 eliminations.
That brings us to our very last task. Only one final round separates the four of you from the title. Well, one round and 3 contestants!
As you probably remember, the Grand Final was supposed to comprise three contestants, yet there are four of you here.
So, this is how it's going to go:
The four of you will have to complete two tasks for this round. After that, your new grades from these two tasks and your old grades from every single round in the competition(Audition-Present) thus far will be accumulated into one final score. The Top 2 will move on to write one very short entry afterwhich the judges will decide the Grand Final Winner!
Now, if you're nervous about your earlier grades affecting you, you have an opportunity to shake things up, seeing as both tasks will be graded #/40, for an added sum of #/80 for this round, which is a complete game changer.
Now, you might be wondering why it's #/40 instead of #/30 when your mentors don't grade your work.
You guessed it! For this round alone, we will be joined by a guest judge!
Her first novel catapulted her to the top of the Wattpad Charts, earning her over 12.5 million reads, over 81,000 votes, over 17,000 comments, and over 11000 fans! Now, for the actual tasks!
The whole point of this competition was to help you grow as authors. So, there's no better time to test that than in the final tasks!
The first of the two tasks is...
Writing your first ever post WNRS novel!
Here's how it'll go. Each of you have to write the description AND first chapter(No prologues) of your debut novel with every skill you've acquired through this competition. We want to see how much you've learned!
The description can NOT be longer than 7 lines. As for the chapter, it can be up to 3 pages long(No extra lines on the fourth page). That's almost 3 and 3/4 pages on Microsoft Word and 2700 words on Microsoft Word.
Now, for your themed task, the second task is...
Poetry!
Yes, we've left a hard one till the end! Your second task is to write a poem about any subject you want! Each stanza can have as many lines as you like(don't go crazy, though, 4 is usually the best), but you can't have more than 4 stanzas!
That's it for the tasks. You are fighting to get into the Top 2! So be creative, give it everything, and, most importantly, have fun!
