*to my school's marching band & symphony band, thanks for all of the amazing memories and more yet to come. :)* so here goes...
*July29.17 looking back on this, I wrote my sophomore year in high school and published this into my schools Calliope book.Today was my last band camp exhinitionof my high school life, It was so bittersweet but I am also so blessed to have had this oppurtunity for the four years of hell. through all the ups and downs music has always been there for me and I am so thankful.
Where I'm from
I am from that old piano in the corner of the room.
From sheet music and the shelves filled with instruments
From that huge musical room I call home at school
From the smell of hard work after performing to the layers of spit covering the floor
I'm from the bush where we got the saying "become one with the bush"
Or from the shortest red tree outside the band door where all my friends gatherI am from the heads arcs to long bus rides
From the woodwinds,brass,and drumline
I am from the overachiever and the multi-talented
And from the top twelve in flight twoI'm from the never give ups and mistakes are oks to the never take short cuts
I'm from the drum majors throwing buckets telling "We have a performance today"
I'm from the CA Blue Brigade and we are from all different places.
I'm from the water bottles and animal crackers at games because we aren't allowed to eat in uniform
To the bittersweet goodbyes to seniors and the welcoming hellos to the rookies
And no matter where we end up in our near futures we will always have the memories of leaving our mark on the feild.
