~ Chapter 37 ~

Blowing on the fire gently to make it rise I feel his eyes on me as I move back a bit to sit Indian style on the forest floor.

The forest around us is pitch black, the only light being from the small wood fire and the only noise around being the crackling of the wood and the small animals scurrying around in the darkness.

The male is in extreme pain but he doesn't show it, a warrior never shows weakness.

Moving over to him I grab his hands firmly and he locks his jaw in pain. Inspecting his burned flesh I notice the silver chain buried into his skin almost making his bones visible.

He's too weak to run at this point so I unlock the chain and place it on the floor. His face gives nothing away but relief and confusion are in his eyes. Right now he's the only one I can trust. The monster in me doesn't care for my pack, it would kill them without a second thought.

I don't speak as I pull out my knife, his body stiffens slightly but I don't hurt him with it and instead balance the blade into the fire so it can heat up.

Leaving him in his spot I stand up and pull two big leaves from a bush before walking through the forest to a small stream. Cupping the leaves in my hands I lower them into the top of the flowing water, filling the leaves with clean fresh water.

"Why?" The man asks as I sit in front of him again, I motion for him to hold out his wrists and he does, I slightly tip the water so it slowly runs out of the leaves and onto his burned wrists. He grunts quietly in pain but makes no sound otherwise.

The water cleans his cuts and washes out the most serious parts of the silver.

Turning around I grab my now scolding red knife.

"They won't allow you back without a mark" I tell him coldly, without warning I press the blazing red metal onto his flesh. His body stiffens and he sucks in a deep breath while groaning slightly.

I repeat this all the way around his wrist and do the same to the other one. It took a while but by the time I was done he had beads of sweat trickling down his brow.

Pulling out the book I place it in front of him as I tear some of my shirt off, to wrap around his wrist before reattaching the chain.

"Where did you get this?" He asks alarmed.

"That doesn't matter right now. Do you know who it belongs too?" I ask him as I wrap his other wrist.

"..I'm sworn by oath to the king-"

"Your king is dead. Your oath is forgotten but your life isn't, tell me what I want to know and you'll live" I glare at him. He senses the alpha in me and looks away.

"Its restricted, even to me. The king kept many secrets from us, even his son" he tells me and I narrow my eyes.

"Who is his son?" I ask.

"I don't know" he replies frustrated, I glare at him.

"He doesn't have a name" he tells me. Surprise goes through me but I don't show it on the outside.

"What do you mean he doesn't have a name?" I ask not being able to help myself.

He shrugs "rumour has it he got someone pregnant, nobody ever found out who she was. When the baby was born the king kept them hidden, when the boy turned 1 the king killed the woman. As the boy grew he remembered everything from the moment he was born, he never spoke. No once. He never cried, whimpered or made any sound when the king tortured him into obedience. The king hated his son, nobody knows where he kept him or even if he's still alive. There is one thing I know about him..he's completely lethal. Kills everything without a second thought" he tells me and I take in all in.

Wait..if he's never seen or even met the male before then how does he know that? If nobody has ever seen him how does anyone know for sure?

Glaring darkly at him I twist the knife in my hand so the handle is facing him in my hands.

"I don't like being lied to" I whisper in a deadly whisper, his eyes widen and in a flash I snarl flinging my right arm out in a wide circle. His blood squirts over me and his wide shocked eyes roll into the back of his head and he gurgles on his own blood before falling onto the forest floor.

"Drop your weapon girl" a mans voice comes from behind me. Tucking the book into my clothes without the many men surrounding me noticing. My bow is hidden up in the trees close to the kingdom, my back up plan.

Standing I hear guns click as the safety is taken off. With no gun, I can't get out of this without being shot myself.

I feel the monster in me rise, the old familiar coldness entering my body calming me. Once this side takes over, it doesn't stop. I can't stop it, it doesn't fade or leave me.

It left before due to me having revenge for what happened but this time there's no reason for it to be here so it has no reason to leave.

Spinning at a speed unknown to any of them I launch the knife at the man behind me, he dodges as quick as he could but it lands deep inside his leg muscle. As he falls I sprint towards him and boot the gun from his hands as he starts to shoot me, it flies up into the air.

The men surrounding me shoot at me, as soon as I grab the man on the floor by his throat they stop. Lifting my hand into the air I catch the gun and pull the trigger on the machine gun as I turn in a circle at lightening speed.

The man turning blue in face looks me dead in the eye as his men's body's drop to the ground. Dead.

"All..this death..isn't nece..ssary" he gasps clawing at my hands which I don't feel as my skin splits open in deep gashes under his claws.

"Then you shouldn't have come." I grin maliciously, my elongated canines glinting dangerously. My eyes a deathly midnight blue, no pupil or iris.

I hear someone move slowly in the trees but before I can dodge the bullet shot at me the man I'm strangling kicks me to distract me, snapping his neck I realise its too late.

I drop his body as I realise it wasn't a bullet. It was a tranquilizer dart.
