~ Chapter 45 ~
I can do this.
I can do this.
I chant in my head and breath deeply, stepping through the last layer of trees into my land I feel pain in the air along with death and blood.
Growling I take off into a sprint through the trees, not caring about the damage it might cause to my gashes. My pack mean more to me than some stupid cut.
Following my senses I push through different bushes and slow as I reach the opening to the main pack land. The houses.
I hear no one moving around, no heartbeats, no voices, nothing.
Walking slowly I look around, blood splatter the floor and I feel pride knowing its my parents packs blood and not mine.
As I walk further I notice footsteps in the mud. Fresh footsteps.
Running I follow the steps easily through the forest until the trail leads into a clearing.
I hear a heartbeat and mine stops, I hear another, and another and another. Many many more heartbeats meets my ears and feel my eyes brim with tears.
My pack is alive.
My warriors survived.
"Alpha vixen" cadells voice whispers and I spin towards him before launching myself through the air at my best friend.
He hugs me tightly and I hiss quietly in pain as he pulls my stitches. He pulls away instantly with releif and worry.
"How many?" I interrupt him before he can ask and he nods understanding.
"Thirteen alpha" he breaths sadly. I feel my heart slowly break but gulp down the pain and nod.
My pack need me to lean on now, I can't be weak.
Turning towards my warriors I look through them all, my heart stops when I see no Jayson.
"Where is he?" I ask with anger and revenge flowing through me.
"With the healers, they've been doing their best for two months to keep him alive but..they don't know of a cure" he tells me looking away so I don't see his pain.
"I'll get a cure. Go be with him, I'll take care of everything" I tell him offering him a reassuring smile. He nods and squeezes my hand before leaving through the trees.
"Did they die a good death?" I ask my men and they bow nodding.
"They served you until the end alpha" ansgar tells me respectfully and I nod.
"Did they have a funeral fit for a warrior?" I ask.
"Yes alpha" he replies with little pain in his voice, no warrior wants to show weakness in front of their alpha.
"Good. Go train for three hours I need you at your strongest. Eat and pack weapons" I order them all even though my alpha command wasn't what made them listen, it was the respect they had for me. As each one leaves they squeeze my shoulder firmly.
Turning to Lincoln I nod "make yourself at home, I have someone to see" I tell him and try to make my way around him.
"Your shutting me out" he tells me gently grabbing my wrist and I look at him.
