~ Chapter 24 ~

Opening the door I hear her gasp in fear and spin to me, she drops the cloth in shock but before it can hit the ground and get dirty I catch it easily and hand it back to her.

"We all have secrets Amelia. Keep mine and I'll keep yours" I tell her and she gently takes the cloth. I eye the desk at the other side of the room and look through the draws. A book catches my attention and I grab it, its only small but its worn down yet quite bulky.

Opening the pages I see sketches of the sky at night, random little drawings but also some symbols. Ancient symbols that I thought only my pack knew of.

I flip to the next page and stop when I see an image. A sketch. A very good sketch.

Of me.

Who is this man?

Closing the book turn towards them when I hear her getting angry with him.

"It needs to be cleaned. Let me clean you before you get infected" she sighs and moves the cloth to his left hand again. His hand remains in a tight fist and I realise she must have removed the knife.

He refuses to show her any other awknowledgment other than keeping his fist clenched as she continues to try.

His head remains down like earlier.

I grab her hand and she freezes flinching instantly but I simply slide the cloth from her hand.

"I won't hurt you, as long as you remain loyal" I tell her and she looks at me confused before backing away shaking her head sighing quietly.

"May I?" I ask the man directly, my head barely above his chin. I place the book to the side and gently place the wet cloth on his hand. Slowly his fist opens and I look closely at the wound before starting to clean it. Blood pours from it and I lean down to the dish filled with water, cleaning the cloth before standing and starting to clean it again. He doesn't show the slightest amount of pain.

Holding the cloth to his wound for a moment I'm surprised when I feel his fingers curling over my hand on the cloth. My eyes snap to his hand in awe before traveling to his face.

My eyes widen as I see him staring directly into my eyes. His being a golden brown, one closed and swolen obviously from a punch.

Blood covering most of his face along with dirt.

Him staring directly into my eyes confirm my suspicions.

1. He's the black thing that saved my life more than once.
