(this part is what happened in the real world - outside of macy's journal)

Adam was initially nervous when Macy's mother had called him, but as soon as she opened the front door, all his worries faded away. "It's good to see you again, Adam. I feel like it's been a lifetime."

"The pleasure is mine, Mrs. Parker," He replied and gave her a short hug.

"Come in, please. I've just made a batch of cookies for the boys, but you're welcome to have as many as you like."

The two entered the kitchen, Mrs. Parker standing by the sink, Adam taking a seat at the island. "No, thank you, miss. I was actually wondering what it is that you called me over for."

Her smile dropped in an instant, and she let out a sigh. "I went into her room a few days ago."

Adam's breath hitched.

"We were finally getting around to cleaning it up, sorting through her things, and I found a journal."

Mrs. Parker slid a small notebook across the counter to Adam. "I've read through parts of it, and I know that she would've wanted you to have it."

"Thank you," Adam looked up from the leather-bound cover and smiled at Macy's mother. "If that's all, I'll be getting home now, if that's alright with you."

"Of course, sweetheart," Mrs. Parker gave him a little smile and a wave. "You can see yourself out, if you'd like. It was great talking to you, Adam. I appreciate it."

He exited the house and began his walk down the street, the notebook feeling like a brick in his coat pocket. The weather was chilly, and he was covered from head to toe in warm clothing items. Macy had always hated the cold climate, preferring a sunny, spring day over a beautiful, snow-covered scene.

As soon as he reached his bedroom at his apartment, he threw the journal onto his mattress and sank to the floor. If he was honest, nothing had gone right since Macy passed. He was a emotional wreck. His friends and family had tried their hardest to comfort him and give him peace, but to no avail.

Adam eventually mustered up the courage to open the cover and read the title.

Adam & Macy

Under the large words of the name, there was small, flowing script.

For Adam, who gave me hope when I had none. I'll love you forever.

He turned the page and began to read.
