Chapter 4: The Chaos Cabin - Luke's POV
As I followed Percy down to the cabins, I thought about my identity. For obvious reasons, I was wary of revealing my true self. What if the campers didn't like me for what I did 10 years ago? Well, 10 Earth years, 10 000 Chaos years. Evidently, years on Chaos' planet went a lot faster than those on earth. Funny, it felt like they were slower.
We stopped in front of the squad. I halted behind Percy, stationed slightly to the right. Being second in command had some really cool perks.
'Gennaios Squad,' Percy shouted.
The other thirteen stood to attention in front of their commander.
Percy as a commander; a concept I originally found funny, until he showed me all the things he could do as leader of the army. I shuddered and ginned beneath my hood.
'Chiron has given us permission to stay here. Using the powers of Chaos, we can erect a cabin for ourselves.'
The powers of Chaos. Now that was what I wanted to hear. The powers I'd gained briefly when I was Kronos were nothing compared to what I could do now.
Percy led the group to the area Chiron had described. It was a rather small clearing with barely any grass. Some of the newer members looked at the area in disbelief. They hadn't had an opportunity to use their powers, so they didn't know what they could do.
Percy stationed everyone where he needed them. The fifteen of us stood in a curved line, our eyes closed and our palms raised. It looked kind of like we were going to sing a sacred demigod version of Kumbaya.
'Focus all the power that Chaos has given you,' Percy called out to the troops. We did.
'Power,' he intoned. 'Come to us.'
Slowly the ground started to shake. Not nearly hard enough to knock anyone off their feet, just hard enough to make my teeth chatter. Through my closed eyelids, I could see a bright light emitting from the middle of the clearing. I fought to keep my eyes closed. I knew that if I opened them, I could go blind, or worse.
Finally, the tremor stopped and we all opened our eyes-
-and gasped.
Standing right in front of us was a small cabin, its walls made of the darkest wood you could find anywhere and the door was smokey grey. It wasn't literally made of smoke, but it sure looked like it. Above the doorframe was a greek letter; an epsilon 'ε.'
I smirked at Percy who was staring up at the symbol of his name, 'Really?'
He shrugged casually, 'I wasn't concentrating on the outside so much. Check out the inside.'
The group walked in, pulling their hoods down, and caught their breath. We'd walked straight into a lounge room that was bigger than the cabin itself. Three couches surrounded a fireplace at the back of the room. Even thought the cabin didn't appear to have a fireplace on the outside. Two bookshelves was positioned near the door for the bookish people in the group.
Looking to the left and right, we could see eight doors leading off into more rooms, four down each side. Upon inspection, we found that they were bedrooms, each with two beds. The two rooms on the end only had once bed each. Percy explained that one was for him, being Commander, and one was for Atlanta (AN: Ha! You thought I would say Luke because he's second in command, didn't you!) because she was a maiden and wouldn't let anyone sleep in the same room. That left everyone else to pair up.
Bianca and Zoe claimed a room together. Figures, they were bother Hunters of Artemis once. Similarly, Leo and Beckendorf claimed one. Both children of the blacksmith god. Makes sense. What made no sense, was Clarisse choosing to share a room with Silena. A daughter of the war god and a daughter of the love goddess. Very ... actually I didn't have a word to describe that.
The three oldest heroes, Jason, Theseus and Perseus (the original), chose to share a room together. With a little concentration, Percy (the newest) conjured up another bed for their room. Lee and Caster shared aswell which left me with Travis. Not that I was complaining, I mean, he is my half-brother. We're both kids of Hermes.
Time on Earth was different to that on Chaos' planet, so even though it was morning when we left, it was already late here on Earth. So we bid each other goodnight and drifted to our rooms. I flopped down on my bed without changing and closed my eyes.
I was ready for a relaxing night of sleep.
