XXIV: Fireworks

(Tune in Roses here by the Chainsmokers)

Dice was looking gorgeous today. She wore a peach dress that compliments her eyes. Her hair was getting longer and is vibing the summer air. Drew and Erin were in a separate car. They decided to come along in the out of town trip since Dice cannot travel alone with me.

"Where are you taking us?" Dice asked sweetly as she combs her hair with her fingers.

"Ahm.. Just outside the town. Place you'll surely like" I smiled at her hoping she doesn't notice the tense I'm hiding.

"Rolf?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you better now?"

"Yeah. I'm fine it's no big deal" I smirked at her.

"I.. I was worried. I'm really sorry for getting you trouble" she said while rubbing her palms together like a child.

"I'm fine. I'm invincible" I bragged with a big smirk in my face. Dice rolled her eyes on me cutely and continued looking at the sky. The trip took us a while so I decided to have a playful time with Dice.

"Hey Dice" I called in a friendly tone hiding my nerves.

"Yeah" she turned to my direction and listened.

"Let's play something fun"

"Right now? In the middle of your driving?" Her brows crossed .

"Yeah why not."

"What game?"

"I'll ask a question and you'll oblige by answering them" I smiled.

"Isn't that unfair? You asking and me answering?" Her eyes were hinting suspicious.

"No. And besides I don't take you as a chicken"

"Hey I'm not a chicken!" She crossed her arms like an annoyed child. "Okay let's play, but you can only ask three questions"

"Sure. Three questions done" I reacted excitedly. Shit.

"But let me go first. I will have to ask you first" Dice said playfully and now her focus was on me a hundred percent.

"Smart idea. Shoot " I granted her wish. She was taking her time thinking about what to ask me and when the moment came, she turned to me again and started asking.

"Okay.. How long do you know me?" She played giggly and seemed excited too.

"Honestly? My whole life Dice" I answered truthfully to her. She just nodded and was thinking again for her next question.

"You're going to need hard questions Dice I'm getting bored" I laughed teasingly and was looking at her back and forth.

"Okay. This is a good one. Since we're friends long way before.. Have you, ever, think of me differently?" She pinned her beautiful eyes on me like wanting some answers. I was dumbfounded. I can't seem to give what she asks.

"What do you mean?" I said with a trace of tense in my voice.

"Like you know, have you ever thought of me as your fling?" She mid-laugh. She really does enjoy this game.
I was focusing on my driving and was hoping she'd stop teasing me. I can't believe how surprisingly game she is with this.

"No." I lied. My forehead was semi furrowed when I answered the wonderful question.

She just looked at me with no emotion or any reaction. And then she proceed to question three.

"Okay. My last question would be, since you told me I was your 'best friend', have I done any crazy thing for you?"

Everything stopped there. I also stopped the car and almost felt numb in every part of my body. Dice looked at me sheepishly.

"Why did you stop?" she asked.

"I..I..ahm.." I stuttered again. Damn.

"Did I say something wrong?" she asked.

"No. It's just that.. You are a many wonderful thing Dice, before, and now you're .."

"Different?" she slowly said with soft facial features.

"I guess so. But you made me the person I am today. One thing I can say is that you saved my life more than once " I answered truthfully. She was just silent at the moment meeting me eye to eye.
