"When you can't take away what you already said, when you cause someone hurt and you feel bad about it, that's the meaning of torment"
XXIII: Torment
I wrapped a towel around Dice's soaked body. Luckily I've hidden some linens in the trunk of my car for emergency uses like this one. I still have one shirt left and decided to changed as well. She was just sitting there in the passenger seat, she's just quiet and starring outside the window while I was driving steadfastly.
I noticed that she was a little bit shaky and her lips was turning pale. I turned off the air con and offered her another towel.
"Are you okay?" I asked calmly. She just nodded and did not speak. Maybe she changed her mood again.
"Do you want to eat brunch? You might be hungry, after those crazy stuffs you did," I half laughed. Still she did not speak.
"Are you still cold?"
"No. I'm fine."
*sighed.
I stopped the car and tried to ease the tension between us. I tried calming down as well before I spoke.
"You can trust me Dice. You know that right?" I said holding unto the steering wheel looking at the road.
"I know." she said in a monotone.
I was amazed by the fact that she said something like that. She turned to me and half smiled. I can still see hurt and confusion in her eyes but she chose to trust me this time. She removed the towel from her body. I can see she's still soaked wet and is getting cold. I can't seem to take off my eyes of her. She is just unbelievably beautiful. My eyes were like magnets dancing in her glimpse. I feel nervous as she was just there facing me looking at me eye to eye.
"Can I borrow your shirt?" She asked politely.
"Wh..what?" I stuttered dumbfounded.
"I'm feeling cold. Can I borrow a shirt?" She blushed a little looking away from me. I don't have another extra shirt to lend her so I took off my shirt and offered it to her. I saw her blush when she saw my upper torso. I mean I don't really mind if she just feast the wonderful view in front of her. She looked away and did not speak again. I gently remove the towels from her hands and replace it with my shirt handing it to her. Still she did not look at me again and then grabbed my shirt to wear it.
"Thank..you.." she said as she gently wore my shirt.
I wrapped my shoulders and my half torso with the towels she left. I started again the engine and drove steadfastly. The car's insides was creaming awkwardness. I was maneuvering the car to get Dice home when suddenly I felt dizzy. I can feel something is ringing in my head. My vision is starting to blur out. I can feel my driving swaying per lane to lane.
"Are you okay?" I can hear Dice saying while she lays her hand on my head.
"Jesus you're burning up!" She said unbuckling her seatbelt and tried to stop the car.
"Stop the car! Pull over! I will drive" she said with a little panic in her tone. I managed to pull over the car as I can feel my head banging from the insides. My knees are getting weak and I can feel almost passing out.
"Rolf? Are you okay? Rolf?!" Dice said my name beautifully. I can see her grabbing me and hugging me...
