Kōri walked slowly, her feet cold against the many boulders and rocks. She was struggling to keep her panic in check, for as she saw more destroyed remnants of Sasori-sama's beloved puppets, the more her concern for the puppet-master grew.
"Sasori-sama?" She asked, looking around. "Sasori-sama, it's me, Kōri. Where are you?"
Kōri frowned slightly as she heard no reply from Sasori-sama.
"It's me, Sasori-sama... You know, your Ningyō...?" She called out again, panic at the edge of her voice.
The Elements were strangely quiet as she continued to search the cavern.
Her calls grew more frantic as she walked around. Eventually, her voice quieted down.
"Please, Sasori-sama... Please answer me.." She whimpered out, her voice hoarse.
Then there was a noise. A groan. It was soft and quiet, but Kōri's ears caught the sound, and she perked up. That had to have been Sasori-sama!
Walking towards the noise at a brisk pace, she saw a flash of red hair on the rocky ground and began running towards the puppet-master.
"Sasori-sama!" She cried out, relieved. That relief she felt was very short-lived, though. Kōri's steps slowed, and her eyes widened in horror.
"No...." She whispered to herself.
Why'd she say that?
Because Sasori-sama had been stabbed by multiple katana's in the weak spot on his puppet body.
Sasori's eyes were open, and his eyes were darting around lazily, focusing and unfocusing at the ceiling.
"S-Sasori-sama...?" Kōri stammered slightly, before approaching the injured puppet-master. She fell to her knees, and gently grabbed one of Sasori's wooden hands. Sasori-sama's eyes widened and slowly turned his head towards Kōri.
Upon seeing Kōri's face, his hand clenched the hand that she held, and a faint glimpse of a smile crossed the puppet-master's face.
"Ningyō..." He rasped softly, blood trickling out of the corner of his mouth.
"Yes, Sasori-sama?" She asked, clenching at his hand tightly, shaking slightly.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Sasori's fingers twitch, and suddenly, her body was bent forward, and she was suddenly being kissed. As she realized this, her eyes widened, and her face went beet red.
Sasori's lips were gentle and coaxing, and as the seconds passed, Kōri felt herself relax into the kiss, eventually returning the kiss slightly. And when that happened, Kōri felt Sasori smile against her lips. A real smile.
Sasori's fingers twitched again, and she was raised back into a sitting position. She blinked and looked at Sasori, cheeks still flushed. His smile faded, and he squeezed her hand once, almost frantically.
"T..Take my ring.. Remember me by it.. Ningyō." He rasped out, his eyes getting this far-off look in them.
"No... nononono.. Sasori-sama, please... Please don't go! Please, stay!" Her eyes burned as she tried to keep herself from crying.
Sasori only gave one last smile, his eyes focusing on hers, holding Kōri's gaze with a smouldering look. A look of raw feeling. Then, his eyes seemed to cloud over again.
"No! Sasori-sama, stay with me! You're gonna get through this, please, Sasori-sama! PLEASE!" Kōri begged the puppet-master.
Sasori didn't seem to hear her.
"SASORI-SAMA, PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME! I NEED YOU!" Kōri pleaded frantically, tears starting to stream down her face.
Sasori's hand that held Kōri's hand lost it's grip.
"NO!" Kōri screamed out, as Sasori's eyes lost their life.
"NO, SASORI-SAMA, COME BACK! COME BACK, COME BACK, COME...." Kōri's voice wavered, and a sob echoed around the cavern. "C...come back.... Pl...please.... Please wake up! Please-please-please-please, Sasori! PLEASE! Wake up...PLEASE!" Kori's voice broke, as she crumpled to the floor, curling into a ball around Sasori's hand.
"S...Sasori, please..." She whimpered out as her sobs faded, a numbing feeling taking over her.
But the silence was deafening.
