Lillian, 33
Lily, younger version of Lillian, 13
A woman, Lillian, is sitting on her bedroom floor - her back is against the bed and her knees are bent up to her chest. She has been crying. The lights are off but some moonlight pours into her room. She is alone in the apartment.
Lillian: Why can’t you just leave me alone?
Lily: I can’t, you know that.
Lillian: Well, be quiet then.
Lily: I need someone to talk to.
Lillian: Why me?
Lily: There’s no one else I can talk to, besides, you need some company.
Lillian chuckles, gently.
Lillian: Ha, yeah sure. I’d be better off alone thank you very much.
Lily: Why are you always so mean to me?
Lillian: What? I’m not mean. You’re driving me crazy, that is, if you haven’t done so already!
Lily: That’s no excuse. You’re my only friend, we need to stick together.
Lillian: I’m not your friend. I don’t even know you. Well, I do, but I don’t. Whatever. I just need time by myself sometimes, you know?
Lily: I’m not leaving and I’m not going to be quiet - I’ve been quiet for too long.
Lillian: Why now? Why did you have to start talking to me all of a sudden like this? I thought I had gotten rid of you.
Lily: You can never get rid of me, I’ll always be here.
Lillian crumbles and quietly sobs.
