"Oh come on, Babe" I heard Mike moaning into my ear. "No, I'm tired. Please just let me sleep!" I said. "Alright" He sighed and turned around to turn off the light. To be honest, I wasn't even a bit tired, but I didn't wanted to sleep with him. Not again.
Mike and I were together since last summer. We met at this surfing class where he is the teacher. He was 18 and I was 17. I always wanted to know how to surf so I decided to go to Mike's beginner class and when I saw him with his blonde long hair and his beautiful green eyes, I fell in love right away. We had a wonderful time but for the past few months I felt so left out because he would spend most of his time with his surfer friends and we rarely ever hang out anymore. Then there was this one night in September 1981, where we spent the night at the beach. We had a bonfire and everything was perfect. He gave me a feeling of being loved, like noone else did before. So I decided to sleep with him, which was a big mistake. I regretted it right after it happened because I realized that the harmony between us just wasn't there. I wanted to break up since then, but for some reason I just couldn't do it.
Basically, we had nothing in common. I sold my soul to Rock 'n Roll, while he hated it. I was just living for it. Record stores, guitar shops etc. that's where I'd like to spend most of my time while he was all about surfing and more into that pop/disco music stuff. He was a nice person, but he wasn't the right one for me.
It was friday night and I spent the night at Mike's house. I really tried to sleep but I couldn't. But I rather can't sleep than sleeping with him again. I left his house at 8:00 am. I told him that had to study, which wasn't true, but I just wanted to go home. I was still 17 and in my senior year. I'd turn 18 in 3 weeks. I spent the weekend with my guitar and my records, when on sunday, my friend Alyssa came over. She was very excited. "Guess what?!" she said. "Damn, what?" I asked. I was extremely tired cause I spent all night on my guitar. "There's a new record store, not far away from our school! It opened last week. let's go there tomorrow!" She gushed. "Oh wow, yeah I gotta ask my mom for some money though, but if she gives me some we can go." I said. I was always broke, but my mom gave me 40$ every month. After Alyssa left, I took a shower and went to sleep. At least there was something to be excited about this stupid monday now.
After school I went to the place where Alyssa and I wanted to meet. Instead of her, her brother came to tell me that she's sick. He gave me the adress to the record store tho, so I could still go there. At first I wasn't sure if I should go on my own, but then I decided to go. I got on my skateboard and headed my way to the store. To be honest, I wasn't that typical girly-girl. I only used a bit mascara and I usually just wore a bandshirt with shorts and a snapback.
It was a pretty hot day and I was glad as I arrived at the shop after 5 minutes. There was a big neon sign that said Hammett's Records . I already kinda knew what I wanted. Maybe some Thin Lizzy, UFO or Motörhead. As I walked in I saw no one. One of my favorite songs way playing. "High Flyer" by UFO. I was looking for the album "Force it" where this song was on, since forever. I walked over to the counter where I saw this dude, I guess he was around my age, sitting behind it, reading a comic book. It seemed like he didn't notice me so I said "Hello?" "Oh, I'm sorry. C-can I help you?" He said while fixing his glasses. He seemed to be very shy. He had long, dark brown curly hair which he tied back to a ponytail and huge glasses, which looked pretty cute to be honest. I've never seen him before tho so he might be new in town.
"Yes, do you sell the record that's currently playing?" I asked with a smile. "Uh, actually not. It's my own one. Sorry." He said while he rised his eyebrows. "Oh damn, I was looking for that album for such a long time. Where did you find it?" I asked, a little bit disappointed. "I-i got it in New York. I lived there for the last 3 years." He replied with a smirk. Though I could tell he felt kinda uncomfortable because he stuttered a little bit. I saw that his teeth were crooked which looked extremely cute. "I could order it for you though," He continued. "I can call the shop in New York and you can come and get it on Friday." I smiled, "Oh yes, that would be so awesome! And to you have Led Zeppelin's IV?" I asked. "Wait let me see." He said as he walked over to the records to look for it. "There we have it" He smiled as he pulled it out. "Oh cool, how much is it?" I asked. "25$." He answered. "Okay I'm gonna take that." As he came back to the counter I saw that he's wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt. "Oh so you like them too?" I asked while pointing on his shirt. "Like? I LOVE them." He said with his eyes widened. "Haha, me too." I laughed. "I, uh, like your shirt." He said shyly. "Oh thanks. He's some kind of my god. He's the reason why I started playing guitar." I said. I was wearing a Jimi Hendrix shirt. "I play guitar too." He said. Damn he seemed to be such a cool guy. But he also seemed so shy. I was really fascinated by him. "Nice! When did you start playing?" I asked. "Oh around 4 1/2 years ago when I was 15. What about you?" He asked. "Oh, I started 2 years ago when I was 16." I answered. He just smiled. He was probably 19 I figured.
