Chapter 20

Jay's POV

Once we arrived at the gym I noticed how it was unusually quiet. I walked into Steve's office where he sat reading through paperwork I cleared my throat and he looked up. "Glad you're here," he handed me a small stack of paper "read through these and fill out what you need to." I nodded and sat on one of the chairs in his office and began reading and filling out what was necessary when I felt someone grab my sleeve I looked down to see that it was Alec.

I smiled "what's up buddy??" He had his brows knitted together
"What's sm- smack- smackdown c-city??" I frowned slightly I didn't quite know how I was going to explain this to him; after all me competing in these events is what gets me enough money to look after him along with the help Ace and Brodie give me and how Ben and his mum look after him when I fight. Luckily I didn't have to and Steve helped me out
"Smackdown city is a competition to see who's the best and the strongest in what they do" Alec looked up at him with interest as he began talking more about it, I continued filling out the forms that where needed for me to be in the competition. Once done I put them on Steve's desk while he was still talking with Alec.

I saw Alec looking so interested and wowed that it made me smile. That's when I heard Steve say "that's why many compete, being signed to or scouted for a professional establishment can mean big things for their futures" Alec looked confused
"What's an estab- establish- establishment??" Steve smiled but looked a little stuck as to how to explain it to a child so I broke in
"It's a place where only the best of the best go in this kind of thing." Alec smiled
"You should go to one, it would be really cool I wanna be in one when I'm older." I heard Steve chuckle
"Looks like we've got a little fighter in the making" I rolled my eyes at him
"Not yet we don't, I put the papers on your desk if that's everything we'll be going" he nodded
"I'll see you tomorrow usual time" I nodded
"Sure, see you tomorrow" and with that Alec and I left the gym.

The rest of the day passed by uneventfully and soon it was time for me to put Alec to bed. He was laying down half asleep when he called out to me "don't go yet" I turned to him
"What's wrong??" He smiled a tired smile
"Can you stay till I'm sleeping, I don't want the monsters to get me." I chuckled at his adorableness
"Of corse" and with that I laid down next to him and he cuddled up to me. Soon enough his breathing evened out and he was sleeping. My eyelids began to feel heavy and soon enough I joined him in slumber.

*Time skip next morning*

I felt the warmth of the morning sun across my face causing me to groan. It was Monday and I didn't want to get up. I sighed as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes before realising I wasn't in my room. The events from yesterday flooded back and I looked down to see Alec curled up next to me; I couldn't help the smile that was on my face.

I looked over to the clock to see that it was half five, I sighed and got up careful not to wake him. I walked across to my room to grab my clothes before heading over to my bathroom to take a shower.

Once I'd got out of the shower, dried myself off and changed I checked the time before heading into Alec's room. I knelt down by his bed before gently shaking him to wake him up. He rolled over with a groan, I laughed quietly I tried again he began to groan again before rubbing his eyes he yawned and smiled at me. "Come on buddy time to get up" he shook his head and ducked under the covers hiding I chuckled and began tickling him, he was giggling uncontrollably so I picked him up while he was wrapped in the covers he laughed as he moved around. I then jumped on his bed with him in my arms, he wriggled out of my grip and stood up "ok I'm up" I laughed as I headed out of his room
"Get ready for school and come down stairs I'll sort out breakfast" he agreed and I headed down stairs.

I entered the kitchen and began making him toast. By the time I'd done everything that I needed to do Alec came down stairs and sat at the table, I placed his food down and grabbed an apple before joining him at the table. When we'd eaten I grabbed our school bags and we headed off.

Harley's POV

Once I got to school I couldn't help but yawn, last night I remembered I had chemistry homework due in today so I was up passed midnight finishing it off. I opened my locker and sorted all my stuff out when the corridor became quiet, I sighed and closed my locker only to see Ace and Brodie. "Woah you look terrible" was the first thing either of them said.
"Thanks I appreciate your honest opinion"
"No seriously Har you look awful" I rolled my eyes
"Yeah yeah yeah I get the idea now shut up" I said while lightly punching them in the arm they both winced at the contact.

They rubbed their arms, " I didn't hit you that hard what are you complaining at??" They shrugged
"Still a bit bruised from yesterday"
"Why what happened Sunday??"
"East Coast gym happened Sunday" I sighed in frustration
"Please tell me you kicked their asses"
"They got their asses handed to them but we got a little bruised up in the process." I smiled
"Good, maybe now they'll have learnt that we're not people to be messed with." The two of them laughed
"Come on the bells gonna go soon, I nodded and followed them.

*Time skip to lunch*

After all my morning lessons lunch time couldn't have come sooner. I ordered my lunch and sat in the cafeteria ignoring everyone and everything. I just sat there on my phone waiting for the day to end. It was all very peaceful till a perfectly manicured hand slammed down on the table in front of me; I looked up with a bored expression only to see Layla.

"Can I help you??" I asked as politely as I could
"Yeah you can, what did I say about leaving Jay alone" she sneered out. I put my hand on my chin and pretended to think
"I don't quite recall what you said why is there a problem??" I asked innocently
"I told you to leave him alone, he's mine" I laughed at her reply,
"Is that so?? I didn't know he belonged to you" she just narrowed her eyes at me
"You'll be sorry about this" she said trying to be threatening
"Well as always lovely chatting to you Layla but if that's all you've got to say then would you kindly piss off" she glared at me once more as she strutted off with her gaggle of morons behind her.

I sighed out in frustration, how the hell is she even in school?? When she was the main culprit of what happened to me. Oh well, no use dwelling on it it's over with. Now I just have to wait for this day to end so I can go home and with that the bell signalling the end of lunch went off. I sighed again as I headed to class.
