A match made in hell

"Kyla and Tajon," My teacher Mrs. Vanderhurst called our announcing our partner for the new history project. I rolled my eyes and looked across the class to my best friend Miriam. She smiled evilly and drew a heart in the air. I snickered in my seat at my own expense and listened to who else got picked.

I could tell that Miriam was about to kill herself when she got told that she was working with Lorenzo because he was the most obnoxious boy in their class.

After the period was over I was headed to AP Spanish, I also had this class with Tajon seeing as we were both in all AP classes. he is much smarter than I like to admit to myself.

He walked over with his buddy Allison Walker. I absolutely despised him. He was so immature, I mean, come on you are a senior. I don't understand how someone as nice as Allison could be friends with him. It seems like he just doesn't understand how to act anywhere. Anyways, he was the bane of my existence.

"Kyla?" I was interrupted by, speak of the devil, Tajon Evans. I rolled my eyes and looked up from the cracked school cement I was walking on.

"Yes?" I tried to look as unamused as possible just in case he was playing a trick on me. He looked a little surprised by my expression.

"Uh, could I get your number..." he paused as he thought of the next thing to say. "Y'know for the history project?" He looked hopeful, an expression I'd never thought I'd see on that face.

"Sure," I sighed out "its 555-0669," he had written it down in his science notebook and then ran back to his friends snickering as he always did. Classic fuckboy tactics.

I finished my walk to Spanish and sat in my seat huffing my breath.

The final bell finally rang and I ran out the door, I hated moving in and out of the crowds and trying my best to be home on time. My dad would be standing outside on the front porch waiting for me if I didn't. I was just about to get out of the school gates when someone pulled my arm causing me to come to a halt.

I looked back to see Tajon standing there keeping me from falling on my ass from the way my body was slanted from my previous speed walking pace. We just looked at each other for a second then he pulled me up so I wouldn't fall when he let go of my arm.

"Hey, we need to work on the project, we only have a week to do it..." he trailed off as if he was refusing to look at me. I'm not that vile looking am I?

"Umm..." I looked in the direction in which I needed to go longingly "just...come over right now!" I said grabbing his hand and dragging him alongside my running self.

My dad was going to kill me.

As soon as we neared my house, I stopped behind a bush. Tajon didn't realize and walked out in plain sight. I sighed and pulled him back with me. My dad was stand out front, of course. I was only two minutes late, god, sometimes I wish he'd loosen the leash around my neck for once.

"My dad's waiting outside, you're gonna have to climb up the back," I said peaking from behind the bush once more. This was risky but it's all I could think of at the moment.
