I had gone out to get breakfast from one of my favorite breakfast places for Miriam and me. Sex takes a lot out of you y'know? While I was on the freeway I saw Allison's car. I could only see Allison seeing as I was looking at her from an odd angle. I honked to get their attention.

Allison looked to where the noise came from and recognized my car and merged into the fast lane. Okay so she's avoiding me now? I wonder wh- okay yeah I fucked my girlfriends best friend...better not push it.

I let her drive away as I took my exit to the mall it was in. As I pulled into the parking lot I noticed not many people were here. It makes sense it is a Thursday morning.

As I walked in I they had put the news on. I had already called in our order so I just had to wait and then take my order.

I left my phone at the house so I ended up being enthralled in the news on the TV. They were just showing a story about puppies that needed to be adopted and I was seriously considering going down to the news station and getting one when they showed a story about the body found in the San Diego River, they had been covering it all morning and they had finally ID'd the body.

"Daughter of the victim had identified the body as Gary Pattillo, Mira Mesa resident, more on what the cause of death it coming up after this break..." The news intro thing played and I felt frozen. That daughter was either Kyla or Naliyah which meant if it was Naliyah I could be of some help so I decided to go down to the police station.

I ditched breakfast and quickly sprinted to my car, my keys clanking in my pocket. Once I got into the car I called Miriam to tell her that I was going to see Kyla about the whole her dad dying thing.

"Are you kidding? You're taking me with you, so I double crossed her, she's still my best friend," she shouted into the phone as I turned around and headed back to the house.

"Okay see you soon."

When we arrived at the police station I called Allison before I did anything because I assumed she would know what to do. After what seemed like forever she didn't answer. I called again and again and still no answer so ignoring my better judgement I walked in, Miriam at my side.

As soon as we walked in I saw Kyla sitting on a bench crying with Allison at her side. So that's where she was.

"Kyla?" Miriam asked as she rushed over to her side. Miriam sat down next to Kyla and as she was about to put her hand on Kyla's shoulder Kyla moved back toward Allison.

"Don't touch me you disgusting pig," she said then slapped Miriam really hard across the face causing one of the police officers to look over in dismay.

"If I hear another slap I'll hold you." he said then got back to typing on his computer at the front desk. I moved over to her and kneeled in front of her.

"Hey, I don't care if you hate me, you have the right to but Miriam was so drunk last night, I doubt she remembers anything, so if anything slap me instead."

She slapped me.

Next thing you know she's outside and I'm laying on the floor after being pushed over.

"You're a fucking idiot Tajon, you know that right?" Allison said and pulled me up as I grabbed my cheek in pain.

"Yeah I'm starting to realize that..." I said and laughed a little then stopped seeing the seriousness of the situation.

"Also, I need to have a chat with you," Allison said and grabbed Miriam's wrist and pulled her into the corner.

I stood there and cursed myself a million times for how stupid I've been. It's pretty much all my fault that he died. Or if you really wanted to go down to it, it was Mrs. Vanderhurst fault for setting us up as partners. But pretty much everything else was my fault. Allison is right. I'm a fucking idiot.

And I proved that by walking outside to talk to Kyla.

"Hey," I said and stood at least 10 feet away from her leaning on the wall. She looked over and when she realized it was me she looked down again.

"Sup," she said very quietly to the point where if I hadn't been completely fixated on her a car driving by would have drowned her out.

"I'm sorry if it makes any difference," I said and hugged my arms seeing as a cool winter breeze went by. It's San Diego so the winter was only about 55 degrees but I'm used to warm weather so this was fucking freezing to me.

"It doesn't, just so you know," she said and looked out to the street, still not looking at me.

"Just think about it, you're 18 in a month, then you can move away from all this shit and go to highschool somewhere else,"

"Y'know what, that's a good idea. Don't talk to me till then."

She walked away.

I walked after her.

"Hey," I called out as I followed her around the building. "I love you, don't just leave me like this after one mistake."

"It's not just one mistake, do you know how many times I've been fucked up by you? Have you any idea?"

"I'm-"

"Just shut up for once!" She stared at the ground and the noon sun shone down on her casting a shadow. "You got me pushed out a window, you got us chased by the cops for having a food fight at Inn N Out, YOU FUCKED MY BEST FRIEND! HOW MANY TIME DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS... YOU FUCKED ME UP!" She had started crying and violently hitting my chest with her fists, each one pushing me backward.

"Pleas-" I tried my voice coming out very weak.

"JUST GO TAJON! I NEVER WHAT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!"

"Then fine, goodbye Kyla."

Tears had come to my eyes. I walked away leaving her crying on the side of the road.

I got in my car and drove to this bowling alley with a small bar inside. And I drank.

I drank till I couldn't feel anything. I drank until I saw an old-not-friend with a girl on his arm. I walked over to them.

"Heyyyy Will..." I slurred my words and pulled a chair up to their table.

"Tajon what are you doing here?" Will's grip on the girl's arm tightened.

"I jussst g-got fuckin dumpedd," I slurred out smiling.

"Tajon, do you need help?" The girl, I now realized was Juliana, said lightly smiling.

"Do you need a ride home man?" He asked and grabed my shoulder with her other hand.

"Uhh, yeah buut I kiindda don't got a house anymore."

"We'll help you out."
