The Beginning

Riley's POV

"Hey Lucas, I'm going over to Maya's today."

"Ok, have fun but not too much fun." Lucas said

"Your coming later, right?"

"Yeah, I'll see you there at six." Lucas replied

"Bye Lucas."

I kissed him on the cheek and waved by. I went to my car and turned on Taylor Swift. She was older now but I loved her songs. My favourite song is Shake it off. I started dancing in the car and made funny faces.

"Better call Maya and tell her I'm almost there."

I picked up my phone and called her. She didn't answer the first time, or the second but then she answered.

"Third times a charm huh Maya."

"When will you be here? Don't make me eat all the Nutella covered strawberries by myself!" Maya joked

"Save some!"

"I'm trying." Maya said while stuffing a strawberry into her mouth

"Don't stuff food in your mouth when your on the phone, it sounds weird."

"Oops." Maya said

"Ok I'm pulling up to your street."

"Finally!" Maya remarked

"Ok, see you in a minute."

"K." Maya replied

I got out of my car and walked to Maya's house. I knocked on the door and waited outside. Maya opened the door and pulled me inside.

"So where are the strawberries?"

"In the fridge on the top right shelf." Maya explained

"Ok."

"So how is Lucas?" Maya asked

"He's great, he just got offered a job as a horse instructor."

"Huh?" Maya looked confused

"He's going to teach kids how to ride horses."

"That fits huckleberry very well." Maya laughed

"Haha, he really is good with kids, we should know."

"Yeah, are you staying for my movie marathon tonight Riles?" Maya asked

"I can't, I have an interview tomorrow for my job."

"What?! Whatever." Maya said

"Maya, my job is important. I might be getting a promotion."

"Promise me you can come over in the weekend?" Maya asked

"Promise."

"Ring power?" Maya smiled

"Ring power!"

"Thunder!" Maya yelled

"Lighting!"

My phone rang, I answered it and went outside.

"Hello?"

"Is this Riley Mathews?"

"Yes."

"Riley!"

"Who is this?"

"Its Ava!"

"Oh hi Ava!"

"Guess what!"

"What?"

"Auggie proposed, again!"

"Again?"

"Yeah, we got married when we were kids but now it's real!"

"Wow, I'm so happy for you."

"I was hoping that when I told your mom she would throw me out, good times."

"Is she happy for you?"

"She said as long as Auggie was happy that she was happy."

"Yep, that's my mom."

"Hey Riles!" Maya yelled

"Just a minute!"

"Hey Ava I have to go, Maya needs me."

"Ok, bye."

"Bye."

"What is it Maya?"

"The museum I presented my art to wants to display it!" Maya squealed

"Wow Maya! That's amazing!"

"What do I say?" Maya asked

"You say yes!"

"Ok!" Maya grinned

"Do you have a job Maya?"

"No. I'm trying to find the perfect one." Maya said

"Well, I know of some good places."

"Tell me!" Maya said

"There is a shop nearby that is for sale, I bet you could buy it and sell some of you art there!"

"That's a great idea, I need money." Maya said

"I'll call the owner and ask what the price is."

"Ok." She replied

I grabbed my phone out of my purse and dialled the number. I love helping people and helping Maya was one of my favourite things. I learn all the numbers of available places around so I can easily help people find a place to work.

"Hello?"

"Hi, I, calling about the open little store on Main Street."

"I don't want that small little store, it's a waste of my money to pay for it."

"What's your price?"

"I think it's worth three hundred since its on a popular street."

"Done, I'll buy it."

"Meet me at the coffee shop on the end of Main Street tomorrow at eight."

"Ok."

I hung up and walked inside and Maya was staring at me with an eager face.

"The shop, is yours!"

"Wow! Thank you Riles!" Maya screamed

"Well I have to talk to the owner tomorrow at eight, but after I'll call you and tell you everything."

"Ok." Maya replied
