The Loss

Maya's POV

While we were waiting for the doctor to finish, I went to a vending machine outside and tried to get Cheetos. I grabbed my wallet and pulled out a dollar, the machine sucked it up into it's hole. The Cheetos feel to the bottom of the finding machine, I grabbed them and walked back inside and sat next to Lucas again. He looked nervous, I didn't really pay attention to huckleberry. I was too busy watching the doctor and Riley.

"I hope she will be ok." Lucas said

"Yeah, we can't have our Riley hurt."

"Did the hospital call you?Or did you just know Riley was hurt?" Lucas asked

"They called me, I guess they know who Riley would call if she could call us."

"What do you think will happen to her?" Lucas asked

"I don't know, I hope nothing bad."

"Me too." Lucas replied

"If anything happens to her I'm going to walk up in here and-"

"I know, I'm just a little worried about her. I need to get my mind off of this, I'm going to go grab some lunch. Do you want anything?" Lucas asked

"I'll eat anything, just bring food."

"Ok." Lucas replied

Lucas got up and went outside to his car and drove away to get food. I looked back at Riley, I smiled. I knew she would be ok, she just needs confidence. I got on my phone and played some games I had, I guess I entertained myself until Lucas got back because when I looked up he was holding a burger in front of my face.

"Thanks huckleberry."

"Your very welcome, 'mam." Lucas replied

I stuffed the burger in my face, this was the best freakin burger ever! I guess I just got super hungry, when I'm super hungry I think anything is amazing. I look back at Riley again to check on her, but the doctor has curtains around her bed now so I couldn't see what he was doing. After a while, I started getting tired so I accidentally fell asleep. I didn't know how long I was sleeping, but when I woke up the doctor was talking to Lucas. I heard the doctor say something about tests, they better not make me take any, I haven't studied- but then again who cares! Riley is asleep in the room so I decide to leave.

"You going home, or are you staying here with Riles?"

"I've decided to stay and help take care of her." Lucas replied

"Ok, I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye." Lucas said

Lucas' POV

I walked into Riley's room and sat in a chair.  I watched her sleep on her hospital bed, I hope she won't have something severe. She was everything to me and if anything happened to her I wouldn't know what to do. I drifted to sleep thinking about Riley.

The next morning

I woke up early in the morning, I could hear all the birds outside. I looked at the window to find Riley looking out the window. She was just watching the birds and leaning against the window seal. I don't think she knew I was awake, so  I got up and walked over to her. I noticed she was shaking, is she nervous about something?

"Are you ok Riley?"

"Yeah, I'm just nervous about the tests today." Riley replied
