After lunch I went to french class, secretly hoping for a fire or some other disaster that would prevent me from having to go to english after, and yet it was all in vain. I trudged off to the dreaded class and as I entered the room my eyes automatically seemed to gravitate towards those dark, black eyes.
“Hey kitten, why didn’t you come sit by me at lunch?” Trey asked me, turning around to face me as I took my seat.
“Obviously because I had better things to do.” I retorted.
Trey scoffed. “Like talking to a bunch of airhead pretty boys?”
I smirked. “You admitting you’re not a pretty boy?”
“Kitten, pretty isn’t a strong enough word. And I’m definitely more of a man than a boy.”
I rolled my eyes. “Probably should have known you would answer something like that.”
“Hey babe, what are you doing talking to her?” Lizzy suddenly materialized next to us, shooting furious looks at me and practically radiating possessiveness.
“Don’t call me babe, slut.” Trey told her, cocking an eyebrow as he obviously got the same vibes off her that I did.
Lizzy let out an offended huff of air before turning on her heel and walking to the opposite side of the classroom to sit by some other guy.
“Don’t call her a slut, you asshole, have some class!” I immediately scolded him.
Trey tuned back to me, raising both eyebrows now in disbelief and his eye flashing with anger. “That’s a bit hypocritical don’t you think?”
“Maybe, but its different. You were kissing her just yesterday, you can’t go from that to calling her a slut! It takes two to tango, mister!”
Trey looked torn between amusement and anger by this point. “So now you’re calling me a slut?”
“No! Well...maybe.” I thought about it a bit before nodding. “Actually yes. Yes I am.”
“I guess a little Miss. Prissy like you wouldn’t understand. Have you even had a real boyfriend ever?” Trey sneered.
This time I was the one who glared at him angrily. “Yes actually. I had a boyfriend who I dated for a year.”
“You sure it wasn’t all in your head?”
“No!”
Trey snorted. “So what’s his name? Where’s he now?”
I tried to blink back the tears as the memories started to come back and I shook my head at him. “That’s none of your business.”
His eyes narrowed as he looked over my face. I instantly tried to wipe my face clear of any emotion, but his eyes made me feel like he could see straight through me.
“Is he the one you visit all the time at the hospital?” he finally asked.
My eyes widened in surprise at the strange direction this conversation had taken. I felt almost panicky.
“At the hospital? No, why would you think that?”
Trey shrugged. “My grandpa talks about you a lot. He’s mentioned both your parents so I assume it’s not one of them, and you said your mom wanted you to cut down your visits so it’s obviously someone mommy and daddy don’t approve of. Guessing it was your boyfriend was the next logical step.”
I looked at him in almost awe, quite impressed that he had picked up so much from so little. “Next logical step, maybe, but it’s wrong.”
“So who do you go visit?” Trey asked me, leaning closer.
