Chapter 3

I awoke Monday morning, once again in Lydia's bed. This time, I had apparently come in and climbed into bed with her. Lydia didn't have a problem with it, even though it was slightly creepy- for her and me both.

She pulled up to the school, taking a parking spot in the front. I got out of the car, smoothing down my pleated skirt and adjusting the sleeves to my sweater before shouldering the purse Lydia had given me due to the fact that, "It's the only one that matches." Like she did everywhere she went, Lydia strutted like a queen, pulling me with her to the front doors of the school. "Chin up, Pheobs, at least try to look like you know what you're doing here. For me?"

I nodded and she seemed happy with that so she pulled the doors open, wide enough for us to walk in together. Did Lydia know how to make an entrance or what? She strutted down the hall and I tried to do the same, hoping I didn't look as nervous as I felt. As far as I knew, I'd never been to school before and I had no idea what to expect except for what Lydia had told me. And I had a feeling school for everyone else was not what it was for Lydia.

I was completely right. Unlike other people, Lydia had no concept of privacy. After getting my schedule and locker combination from the front office, Lydia led me to my locker, which was two away from hers, where we met her boyfriend. I cringed remembering them sucking face right in front of me. That was so gross. Now, after getting through the first few classes of my day, we were on our way to lunch. "We" being Lydia, Allison, Jackson, myself, and the rest of her crew that I didn't have the patience to learn the names of. After grabbing our trays of food, we made our way to a table where Scott and Stiles sat.

"We'll figure it out."

Lydia took a seat next to Scott while I moved to sit next to Stiles. "Figure what out?"

Stiles looked up in alarm as Scott answered. "Uh, just, uh homework."

I heard Stiles whisper to Scott, "Why is she sitting with us?" To which Scott mumbled a response. I sat down and Stiles turned to me chuckling nervously as I smiled at him. I saw him roll his eyes at himself, but decided to ignore it.

"Get up." Jackson said to the boy at the end of the table.

The kid groaned. "How come you don't ask Danny to get up?"

The buff kid on the other side of Stiles responded. "Because I don't stare at his girlfriend's coin slot."

The kid moved over and Jackson took his spot. "So I hear their saying it's some type of animal attack." Danny said. "Probably a cougar?"

"I heard mountain lion." Jackson said.

"A cougar is a mountain lion." Lydia said to which I snickered at. "Isn't it?" Oh come on Lydia.

"Who cares? The guy's probably some homeless tweaker who's going to die anyway." Jackson said. Well, that wasn't very nice.

I continued to eat my apple as I listened to their conversation. "Actually, I just found out who it is. Check it out." Stiles said, putting his phone in the middle of the table for everyone to see.

"The Sheriff's department won't speculate on the details of the incident, but confirmed that the victim, Garrison Meyers, did survive the attack. Meyers was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition."

"I know this guy." Scott said as we all leaned back in our chairs.

I swallowed my apple before asking. "You do?"

"Yeah," He said. "When I used to take the bus back when I lived with my dad. He was the driver."

No one talked for a few seconds before Lydia spoke up. "Can we talk about something a little more fun please? Like, oh where are we going tomorrow night?"
